The loud noise from the foot of soldiers running into a small tent becomes hard to differentiate in comparison to other louder noises outside. The noises from people's screams and clanging swords. "Sir, the enemy has reached this base," said the soldier full of worries.

I look at my watch then move some chess pieces on top of the map. They sure are slow. "Take the horse at the back of the hill, inform the General to move into the third phase," I inform him. "Sir, but-"

"Hurry up! The lives of the citizens depend on our success," I cut him before he could rebut. "Yes, Sir!" he said and ran to the other side of the tent.

I sighed, standing up from my table, collecting all documents, putting them on a bucket, before setting the fire on it. As I watch as the confidential files burn down, leaving only ashes, the sound from the outside slowly subdued.

Another sound of soldiers' foot was heard again, more organized this time. From the shadow, I know this tent has been surrounded by group of people. Enemy's soldiers. Before long, several men stepped into this tent. The one on the front, obviously the leader, has bloods stained in his armor. He carried his sword in one of his hands. Sweats cover his face, showing clearly he just battled himself. I look at him, recognizing the face of the enemy's leader.

Again, I glance at my watch. They really are slow.

"Surrender, now," said the leader.

"Can't do. I was getting a clear order to defeat you no matter what happened," I said calmly, easily, with a smile, showing I have no intention to fight back.

The man looks angry at my answer. "How can you defend such a tyrant! Do you know how many innocent citizens he has killed?"

And you think our fallen soldiers here are evil?

"Surrender or die!" he threatened again, now, with a sword pointing towards me.

Death is not a bad option actually. I'm getting tired of this life. I'm just a mere piece in this never ending war which looks more and more like a sport between the two kings. I look down to the chess piece on the table, moving several pieces forward. I knock the black horse on our territory and replace it with the white one.

I gave a little giggle which sounded like an insult to them. "I'm not lying when I say I can't. Either you killed me, or I'll get murdered as a traitor," I said to him, walking closer towards his sword. Its pointy end now hangs close to my neck. He clearly looks annoyed, as I just state what he need to do to me.

"Ah! One word of advice from your senior," I tease this young man in front of me. "Don't trust your king too much. This war is just a game to entertain him," I smirk.

Without a second thought, the white knight slash my head.

I open my eyes from the throbbing pain on my head. I clench my hand, try to subdue the pain. These past few days, the dreams of me getting killed from wars appeared, everytime I sleep.

Why are the memories of my death always so clear? I know the numbers of my wins are higher than my losses, but those episodes were never be my dreams. I shift my body to the side, getting a glass of water to lessen the pain. When I've finally overcome it, I look at the clock, let go a long exhale before standing up.

I approached the couch and sat down. It's the third day since Darren left and I've been having these unpleasant dreams of memories since he left. The news said Darren arrived in the Western territory yesterday. I only received brief reports for any updates. Not like I can do much from here though. Well, not entirely true.

I've been taking over Darren's work on managing this territory. It's not much different than when I worked under him, but as the situation becomes worrisome there are more things to be concerned about. Also, I have to handle all the interaction with other people myself. I miss my shut-in life.

I rest my head on, thinking about what I should do today. I look at the desk where there's a stack of papers that I brought from the office yestereday. I pick one, start reading, with a pen on my hand to mark the important parts. I try to escape my own mind.

"What the hell are you doing?" Harry's voice distracts me from my focus.

I look up and see him comes with a tray of breakfast. I look at the clock and notice I've been working for almost two hours. It's seven in the morning. I didn't even bother to answer him and just continue with the paper.

"First of all, how long have you been up? It's so early. Second... Caden, it's Sunday! Why are you working?" he said, tidying the paper on the floor that fell from the piles. "Just finishing something up," I mumbled back, flipping the paper, reading more lines. Giving notes to some parts that need follow up. Some suggestions to solve the issues.

"You said the same thing yesterday," Harry sighed as he put the food on the table.
"Come on, eat! Master Darren told me to make sure you eat properly," he continued and snatched the documents on my hand. I glare at him, no matter how close we are, it's rude. I don't say anything but look at him angry and annoyed, asking the documents back.

"Err... okay, okay. Sorry," Harry said as he returned the document to my hand. "Just, make sure you eat your breakfast and don't overwork," he said, and push the tray out.

I sighed, now feeling guilty. I tried to control my emotions but it's getting harder these days to stay composed. "Thanks for bringing the food, Harry," I said when he about to leave. "Anytime," Harry replied, "tell me if you need anything." I just nodded.

Hearing the door closed, I get back to the papers
