"What is he doing here?"

Feeling deja vu. I silently roll my eyes on my comfortable couch.

Caleb comes into Darren's office to give some military reports. I know it after hearing Darren's schedule given by George this morning.

"What's your report?" Darren asked, ignoring Caleb's question.

"All new recruits have reached the training ground. I will go there tomorrow"

"And how are they?"

"Fine. Some show their potential, but we can not say anything until we monitor their performance for the next two weeks," Caleb said.

"About that... I don't think I can attend this year's inauguration"

"What? Why?"

"I have tasks to be done. Besides, you have been the one who monitor their training, you should be able to know what's best?"

"But, I always need your input! You able to discover the raw gems!"

Darren sighed, "Fine, tell Goerge to free my schedule for the last three days"

"Good enough," Caleb replied. He sat on the chair right in front of Darren, sipping the tea that has been served.

"Check these for me too," Darren appears behind me out of thin air, handing papers. I receive the paper, put it in the stack of papers that I will read and gave him a light nodded.

"Why are you here, again?" Caleb suddenly asked me. Like Darren, I didn't notice that he already near me.

"He's helping me," Darren said before I could reply. "Don't bother him, Caleb."

"Huh? What can he do?" Caleb said while picking and filliping the documents from my organized stacks.

Huft... remind me to reorganized that.

It's almost a week since my first day in this new job. Darren got reports for general stuff and issues surrounding Northern territory from the Lords. Then, he asked me to review the documents, write down my opinion and suggestion on it, then sort it by its importance. To ease his job on what to prioritize. Boring repetitive stuff that doesn't need much effort. I don't think too much while doing it.

"Master Darren, Lady Niran and Sir Arthur has come," George said from the edge of the door. Darren just nodded to let them in.

"Have you reached some agreement?" Darren immediately asked when Niran and Arthur walked in. I know Niran is our financial manager... not sure about this Arthur guy.

They both look hesitate to answer.

"We can't," Niran start, "Giving subsidization for public transport would only harm our finance in the long run. As more people use it, our income would decrease significantly. We need to make payment for the bond for this project itself." She said.

"But we need to lower the cost to make people convert and use it," Arthur immediately argues.

Ah! Yes, I remember reading a report about the financial issue for the new public transportation project. They still have arguments regarding the tariff for it.

"Read these first, then give your thoughts," Darren said handing some copy of papers to them.

The room becomes silent and only the sound of flipping paper can be heard.

"We can.. do this?" Arthur said unsure. He still looking at the papers with wrinkles on his forehead.

"I never believe we'll able to gain profit this fast for a project this big!" Niran again said. "So, basically we just need to limit the subsidization budget for every year and we'll only subsidize for ten years. With more people using this, there will be an increase in income and we won't just be burning money. Also, if we able to open more routes and lines, then apply the same strategy to them, it will increase need and more mass are going to switch their whole transport method!" Niran sounds amused.
