Adam had finished cleaning up and Lexander had perched himself on the couch as he twirled his hair around his pointer finger while checking for any split ends. Adam looked towards his companion with a raised eyebrow. "Is the boy alive Lexander? I'm certain he would have awoken after all the noise we've managed to make."

He shrugged, "he was extremely exhausted Adam... and yes, he's still asleep." Adam scoffed.

"I wish I had the luxury." Lexander chuckled. "Oh, you do, but you choose to work. Not that you could afford your own if you did as the young wolf. He's had quite enough hardships and sleeping like the dead is well deserved, I think."

Adam rose an eyebrow, "what do you mean?"

Lexander appeared before Adam and sat on the countertop beside him. "He was traveling with a few rogues who banded together and didn't care for their members. He had quite a tough time getting around and surviving the hunters out to kill the pack. You wouldn't even be able to imagine the amount of work he put into his own survival after losing his way and the fights he'd been in. Not all his scars stayed and those that didn't heal properly are the ones that were the worst. Leeland is a fighter and a strong one at that." Lexander was gazing into Adam's eyes and took a moment to bend over and plant a quick kiss on him before going back to lying on the couch.

The bedroom door creaked open and Leeland came out looking like he was fully rested. "Feeling better wolf?" Lexander asked. His lips curling into a wicked smirk.

The young wolf looked him over and scoffed. "Much. Not that you had anything to do with it bloodsucker."

"So rude, and to the creature that aided you when you were about to be staring down the barrel of a gun." His grin widened as his eyes darkened.

"Absurd." He mumbled.

"No, it's not. The hunter had a pistol on his person. It's a backup for instances like the one he had with you. You became very lucky because of me, Leeland. You were scared, so I understand the fear and the urgency to attack the hunter, but I truly saved a bloodbath from occurring. You're welcome." He said with a small dip of his head. Leeland paused for a second and then looked towards the hunter.

"Adam, is he right? Would you have shot me that night?" Adam swore in his head since that was the only place that they wouldn't hear him. He turned to face the young wolf and nodded.

"Note, that I was injured and you were baring your canines at me. I didn't want to because I noticed how small you were—."

"But you would have?" He asked cutting him off.

"Yes, Leeland. I would have if I needed to."

He pursed his lips then shook his head. "I need some air." He walked to the front door then left the room in a tense silence. "Now, why did you have to bring that up Lexander!"

He shrugged. "I didn't think he'd feel so hurt."

Adam sneered and shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Not everyone is as cold as you Lexander. He's a child, no matter the species, and he's all alone." He marched to his closet next to his room door for his coat. "I'm heading to work. You better had apologized to him by the time I get back."

"I'm not a daywalker hunter—."

"I don't care. Fix it." He marched out of the house with a slam of the door. Lexander huffed out and made his way to the bathroom, he hung up his trousers on the hook behind the door as he stepped into the tub. He began to run the water, then sighed. He'd take a bath first, then try to make peace with the sour young werewolf.
