I turned to see everyone with wide eyes looking at Lanza like she was about to slip up something. Enzo just glared at her.
"What did you do that for!" Lanza hit Adriano back.
"You were talking with your mouth full" he said through clenched teeth while glaring at her.
"oh hush both of you and eat" Mrs Dark intervened and we resumed eating in silence. I kept my eyes on my plate the whole time while I felt Enzo's eyes on me, his gaze made me self conscious.
"So Raelynn... where are you from?" Mrs Dark asked and for the first time since dinner started, I raised my head.
"Boston"
"Oh that's nice... and your family, how are they? It must have been hard for them to let their daughter follow her werewolf mate since they're humans" She asks with a chuckle and my eyes drop to my plate.
Why would she ask me that? Is she that clueless about what her son did?
"My parents think I'm dead" I looked up, Replying with a bland tone. From the corner of my eyes I could see Enzo warning me with his eyes.
"What?..." Mrs Dark's smile dropped slowly.
"What do you mean?" She repeated her question emphasizing on each word. She is clueless about the situation. I glanced at Enzo he didn't look happy and he's certainly is going to throw a fit with what I'm about to say.
A scowl grew on Mrs Dark's face and a spine chilling one.
"Liana" Mr Dark attempted to calm her down but she glared hard enough to make him retract his hand from touching her.
"Raelynn dear. Could you please answer the question?" She asked with a forced courteous tone, her patience was wearing thin but her anger wasn't towards me.
How do I answer her question?
I swallowed a hard lump in my throat unsure if I'd be able to talk about it without my voice breaking.
"I... I was abducted, technically" I let out a sarcastic chuckle. "And my family has been made to believe that I died of food poisoning" I said through clenched teeth.
"Excuse me but I've lost my appetite" I smiled half hearted.
The sound of my wooden chair grazing the floor as I stood resonates the silent room and I walked away. My emotions are not for me to wear on my sleeve for them to see. The second I stepped out of the room and out of sight her voice boomed.
"YOU BETTER FUCKING START EXPLAINING!"
That's none of my business... I ignored the turmoil and made my way to the grand staircase.
A tear escaped my eye and I quickly wiped it off but it was soon followed by another, my hands wiped the stray tear and I took in a deep breath.
Not now Rae...
I could hear the door opening up behind me as I begrudgingly walked up the stairs without an ounce of energy left in me.
"Sunshine?" Dan's voice called out and glanced at him over my shoulder.
"YOU DID WHAT?!" Mrs Dark screeched and I could swear the windows rattled.
Dan's eyes grew as wide as saucers turning his head towards the origin of the sound.
"Uhhh.... Can I ask what's going on?" He asked quietly and this time I turned to face him properly.
"Hm? That?" I smile bitterly. "I just told her what her son did to his mate"
