Astrid stirred in her sleep and woke up to find that Hiccup was no longer sleeping beside her. She sighed and swung her legs over the bed.

She quietly tiptoed out of the house, careful not to wake up Valka, and walked to the stables in just leggings and a shirt. There was no one else awake anyways.

Stormfly chirped happily as she saw Astrid step into the stables. Astrid smiled back at her dragon and stroked her nose gently.

"We need to go to the Cove, girl" She whispered quietly as she brought Stormfly out and mounted her. The Nadder nodded and flew up into the sky towards the woods.

Astrid noticed how cold it was, the ice everywhere not making it better. She took one hand off Stormfly and put it around her, trying to warm up.

They landed softly onto the Cove, Astrid jumped off of Stormfly the second they did. She saw Hiccup sitting down beside the river, looking at his own reflection.

She walked over and looked eyes with him, his green eyes were covered with tears and his mouth was in a frown. She assumed she looked somewhat the same. She bit her lip and nodded.

"I know" Astrid whispered softly, a tear rolling down her cheek. He wrapped her in a hug, crying into her neck. She hugged him back, resting her head on his shoulder.

"I miss him, Astrid" Hiccup mumbled after they cried together for a few minutes. She nodded and sniffed.

"I miss him too, Hicc. I miss him too" She replied and sighed deeply as she thought about him again.

"I wasn't able to say so many things" Hiccup said, pulling away to look at her. She took his hands and listened to him.

"I didn't say that I admired him! That I idolized him! That I loved him" He listed, his voice breaking as he finished. Astrid look deep into his sad green eyes and felt tears fall from her own.

"He knows that, Hiccup. I'm sure he does." She comforted. He gave her a small smile and squeezed her hand gently.

"You know, we had a deep talk one night" Astrid started.

"It was when Dagur was still bad and he launched that attack on Berk. I was telling him about the feeling I felt that I should've been there to stop it-"

"One more dragon wouldn't have made a difference, m'lady" Hiccup interrupted, placing his hand on her cheek. Astrid nodded and smiled.

"That's what he said. He told me that you couldn't take that feeling away. You needed to own it, remember so that you make sure it won't happen again." She finished, placing his hand over hers.

"Say all the things you want to say before you can't" Astrid added, giving him a small sad smile. He gave her a smile back.

"He always knew what to say to make everything better" Hiccup said as Astrid shivered lightly in the cold. He quickly took her into his arms, letting her nuzzle into his chest.

"That's something that you both have" She replied, looking up at him. He smiled sadly and leaned down to kiss her.
