Chapter Twelve

A week later
Sofia is back at work.
"Tanner." Jack said.
"Lieutenant." Sofia said.
"Oh so I'm Lieutenant now." Jack said.
"Yep." Sofia said as she walks away with a chocolate chip muffin.
Jack grabs Sofia's muffin and runs away.
"I'm going to get you Gibson!" Sofia said as she runs after Jack.
"Lineup now!" Sullivan said.
Everyone runs to do lineup. Ryan walks in.
"I'm sorry Captain but I need to take to my sister." Ryan said.
"Tanner go. You guys can go to my office." Sullivan said.
Ryan and Sofia go to Sullivan's office.
"What's up?" Sofia said.
"Your dad is having a parole hearing and they want you to be there to testify." Ryan said.
"They want the guy who abused me. Neglected me. TO GET OUT OF JAIL?!" Sofia said loudly.
"Sofia quiet down." Ryan said.
"No. I'm not going to quiet down when my abusive drunk father is getting out of jail!" Sofia yelled.
Everyone hears her yelling and looks up at them.
"Everyone is looking at us. They can hear you yelling." Ryan said.
"I don't care!" Sofia said as she breaks down crying.
"Sofia it's going to be ok." Ryan said as he comforts his little sister.
"How is it going to be ok. Every 2 years they ask to try to get me to talk at his parole hearings. But I can't. I can't do it Ry." Sofia said.
"Maybe this year is different." Ryan said.
"I can't." Sofia said as she walks out.
Ryan gets frustrated and he runs after her.
"Sofia!" Ryan said running after her.
"What?!" Sofia said as she turns around facing Ryan.
"Just tell them what you went through. How you don't think he should be on parole. How you think he's a danger to people." Ryan said.
Sullivan walks over to them.
"Is everything ok because we can hear you. Tanner how about you take the day off." Sullivan said.
"Everything is great! Just great!" Sofia said sarcastically.
"Tanner take the day off." Sullivan said.
"No I'm good. I need to work." Sofia said.
"I wasn't asking!" Sullivan said.
Sofia storms off to the locker room to change out of her uniform. Jack walks into the lock room.
"Is everything ok?" Jack asked.
"No everything isn't ok!" Sofia said as she gets angry.
"Don't get mad at me. I didn't do anything." Jack said.
"I'm leaving." Sofia said as she runs out of the firehouse.
Sofia ends up at HQ.
"I'd like to speak to Chief Ripley." Sofia said.
