"Shhh, you should have told me,"
"I didn't want you to worry--"
"Shush, I'll make you something to eat,"
His face was slightly flushed; lips, dry; voice, a tad dry and gravelly.
Running a hand lightly over his forehead, you feel the heat radiate off onto your skin.
You reach into the bucket of water next to the bed, only to realise that it's warm.
How long has he had this fever for?
You tip the water out, wringing the towel inside, then fill the bucket up with cool water.
The towel soaked up the water, and you squeeze out the excess before placing it gently on Sosuke's forehead.
He flinched slightly at the contact, eyes opening.
"Don't worry about me, just rest," You say sweetly.
Sosuke's eyes closed slowly, reluctantly and he turned onto his side, making the towel slip off his forehead.
"Sheesh, you're so silly," You giggle, grabbing the towel and placing it on the back of his neck instead.
You watch him for a while, then head out of his bedroom, closing the door softly.
You came back to check on him every half an hour or so, and through the grogginess of sleep, Sosuke could feel the warm, damp towel being lifted off his skin, and replaced with a cool one.
He couldn't grasp the things happening around him, just sometimes he would wake up, for a moment, turn around then fall back into an uncomfortable, feverish sleep.
When he finally regained somewhat full consciousness, there was no light peeking in from the gaps in his blinds, and all he could feel was an annoying pounding in his head. His throat, it was parched, the dryness hitting him in full blast. He could barely speak, the words coming out in soft croaks. His head spun, slightly, like when he pushed himself too hard when swimming and was rewarded with a throbbing headache.
He untangled himself from the sheets which were now somewhat moistened with his sweat, the now-warm towel on the back of his neck dropping into the abyss of cloth.
He stood up, staggering a little, the pain from lying down for so long searing through his back, his calves tight and stiff.
"Ughhh---"
Groaning, his vision blacked out momentarily as blood rushed to his head. Blinded, he let his hands follow the smooth wall, leading him towards the door.
All he wanted now was some water, and in the blur of the sickness that was affecting his body, he had completely ignored the bottle of water on his bedside table.
Fingers came into contact with the cool metal of the doorknob, and he turned it slowly as if he forgot how the door even worked.
The warm shade of artificial light met his eyes as the door was pushed open, and that soft voice resonated pleasantly in his ears.
"Ah, Sosuke, you're up."
There was a pleasant smell of tonkatsu in the air, and everything that happened after he stepped out of his room was like a blur.
A glass of cool water was pushed into his hands and guided to his lips before the water slipped down his throat like silk. It was soothing, hydrating his painfully dry mouth.
Then he was led to the couch, where he was pushed down gently, the glass of water now refilled for him to drink.
Now that his thirst was quenched, his mind was alerted to the pangs of hunger.
When had he last eaten? Was it yesterday? Heck, he didn't even have breakfast this morning.
"Hungry?"
He looked at you, nodding his head, a light blush spreading over his face.
You giggled, hearing the soft growl of his stomach, and headed into his small kitchen, scooping out some rice into a bowl before placing some tonkatsu on top.
You knew tonkatsu, as fried food, wasn't exactly something a sick person should eat, but Sosuke liked it, so why not?
You plop down on the couch next to Sosuke, picking up some rice and holding it up to his mouth.
"Say ahh," You say, smiling.
Sosuke obliged, letting you feed him a few mouthfuls, before trying to grab the bowl from your hands.
"Oooi, I didn't think you were so hungry!" You exclaimed.
"I am," he replied, "and you should get some food for yourself too."
Even when sick, he could still think of you.
You blushed, then headed into the kitchen to grab some food.
The rest of the evening was spent cuddling on the couch in front of the TV, bingeing anime, and eating tonkatsu. Although his body still hurt from the sickness that was plaguing him, and he couldn't drag the slight guilt from making you worry over him out of his mind, Sosuke couldn't help but wonder if falling sick wasn't such a bad thing after all.
