"Wow." Chris panted while pulling the white comforter up his chest, covering his and Phoenix's naked bodies in the process.

"Wow." Phoenix repeated, slightly out of breath. "Maybe I need to stop calling you an old man."

"I'm just trying to keep up with you." He chuckled before shooting his hand down the sheets to grab ahold of his girlfriend's hand. "What a great way to spend our first morning back in L.A."

"Absolutely." She agreed after resting her head on his bare chest. "What do you want to do for your birthday sweetface?"

"I'm up for anything as long as we're together."

"Do you want to have a party? It's a little last minute but I'm sure I can make something happen."

"No party." Chris answered. "Let's just have a nice dinner."

"Hmm okay." Phoenix responded while running her thumb across his bottom lip. "Are you sure you don't want to do anything more... eventful?"

"I'll be back in Boston for 3 weeks for reshoots the next day and I wanna spend as much time with you as I can."

"You're sweet." She smiled before giving him a gentle kiss. "I'm still bummed out that we won't be together on our anniversary."

"I know babe. I'm sorry." Chris apologized. "If I could move the reshoots back, I would. There's no place I'd rather be than with you, celebrating two amazing years together."

Phoenix nodded while reaching for Chris's phone that was within her grasp. Ignoring the hundreds of notifications on his screen, she looked at the time and grunted. "Fuck! I didn't realize it was so late! I'm supposed to meet Benoit in half an hour."

Chris let out a laugh as his girlfriend awkwardly rolled off the bed, barely landing on her feet. She was in such a rush to get take a shower that she forgot how to properly use her legs. After regaining her composure, she scrambled toward the bathroom as Chris's eyes stayed glued to her bare bottom.

"I can feel you checking me out, Christopher." Phoenix spun around and began walking backwards to the bathroom, while covering her exposed parts.

"Don't get all shy on me now." He smirked. "You may not have America's ass but you do have Chris's ass."

"Wow. I'm flattered." She replied sarcastically after entering the bathroom. As soon as she closed the door behind her, Chris jumped out of bed.

He ran to the dresser, where he kept the ring he was going to use to propose to Phoenix, and removed it from his underwear drawer. He had been in possession of that ring for almost a year and a half but never worked up the nerve to propose to his girlfriend before. Last Christmas, he had even asked both Phoenix's parents if he could have her hand in marriage in to which they unanimously said yes. After that moment, he had been holding onto the ring waiting for the perfect moment to propose to his future wife.

"CHRIS." Phoenix called over the running water.

Chris fumbled the black box at the sound of his name, accidentally dropping it on the wooden floor before picking it up. Rather than returning it to its original place, he put it in the bottom drawer with the condoms he hadn't used in years but still kept around for some odd reason. After making sure the ring was hidden, he made his way to the bathroom and poked his head in the door. "Yes?"

"Don't you need to take a shower too?"

"Yeah but I'll just wait until you're finished. No rush." He replied as if there weren't 4 other bathrooms in their new rented house.

Rather than responding, Phoenix took Chris's hand in hers, leading him into the shower before joining him. She let the warm water run down her back as she faced Chris and gently massaged his scalp. The most intimate times she had with Chris weren't the times when they were physically having sex but just being close and enjoying each other's embrace. She loved being pampered by Chris but she felt it was important to pamper him just as much, whether it was buying him certain things or just giving him her undivided attention.

Pulling Phoenix into his chest, Chris hugged her tightly, resting his chin on the top of her head. He absolutely couldn't wait to spend the rest of his life with the woman that has owned his heart for years now. Not only did he admire her growth within their relationship but he also appreciated the fact that she went out of her way to make sure he knew how much she loved him, physically, verbally, and emotionally.

As the water continued hitting their skin, Chris couldn't think of a more perfect moment to ask Phoenix to marry him. They were standing together, bare and naked, enjoying one another's presence without the need for words. Although they weren't speaking orally, it was as if their hearts were as beating at the same rate which gave Chris the confidence he needed to finally pop the question. He took a deep breath and turned off the water, causing Phoenix to frown.

"Phoenix, I love you more than words can even describe. You own my entire heart and you have done nothing but cherish it, protect it, and hold it close to you since the moment I gave it to you." Chris spoke. "You're my partner, my best friend, my soulmate, my honeybee. Your happiness is my happiness. Your sadness is my sadness. Your pain is my pain. You're the one I want to be with in sickness and in health and I can't wait to witness all of your dreams coming into fruition."

"Holy fuck!" Phoenix exclaimed as Chris dropped down to one knee in front of her. She clearly knew a proposal was coming within the next couple of weeks but she expected it to be on the 19th, the day of their 2 year anniversary, rather than on a random morning in the shower.

"Genevieve Phoenix Benali, will you marry me?"

"I-" She cut herself off while kneeling down so she was on the same level as Chris. She then cuffed his face in her hands, gently running her fingers through his hair afterwards. She took a moment to look into his beautiful blue eyes, slowly pressing her lips onto his afterwards. "Of course I'll marry you!"

Chris couldn't contain the smile that shot from ear to ear as he stood up, pulling his new fiancé up with him. "I should go get your ring."

Phoenix grabbed his arm, preventing him from leaving before pulling him into a hug. She let her fingers roam down his back as he nuzzled his head into her neck. She couldn't even imagine how nerve racking it was for Chris to propose to her, not knowing what her answer would be even though she had repeatedly told him she wanted to marry him. She just wanted to take a moment to fully embrace him, without worrying about anything else.

"Aw sweetface." Phoenix poked out her bottom lip at the sound of Chris sniffling into her shoulder. Knowing how emotional he is, she was surprised his tears didn't start sooner. "I love you."

"I -"

"Hey, no." She shushed him after pulling away from the hug. She placed a kiss on his lips while grabbing both of his hands. His normally blue eyes were now pink and filled with moisture but that didn't stop Phoenix from looking at Chris like he was the most beautiful person in the world. "You don't have to say anything. Let's just enjoy this moment. We have the rest of our lives for words."
