After leaving Boston, Phoenix headed straight to NYC where she had been spending a lot of time hanging out and catching up with old friends from college who had made the move from L.A. as well as some of the new friends she had made when she and Chris lived in the city for 2 years before moving back to California. Because Jordyn was in Manhattan for work, she thought it'd be best to get her day in the life video finished and out of the way.
"What are you doing today?" Phoenix asked.
"I was invited to a Hot Mess breakfast but we totally don't have to go if you're not comfortable seeing him again." Jordyn spoke.
Phoenix didn't bat an eyelash at the mention of Luka's brand's name. It had been so long since she even thought about him that she barely remembered what it was like to know him, let alone harbor hateful feelings. Nobody had the time for all that. "Let's do it."
"Wait a minute." Jordyn stopped to grab Phoenix's left hand, where she was wearing a familiar 10K gold Darth Vader ring. She still remembered the day Phoenix called her and gushed about how Chris came to her hotel with that ring and fought for their relationship. "This is the ring!"
"You remember it?" Phoenix smiled while looking down at her left hand. For about a year straight, Phoenix had worn it on her right hand almost everyday before she put it away and only brought it out on certain occasions. It still had a ton of sentimental value to her and reminded her of the beginning of their relationship, which was picture perfect.
Now that she had been spending more time away from Chris, she'd been wearing the gold Darth Vader ring on her left hand in the same spot her engagement ring used to sit until they broke it off over 2 weeks ago. Although neither one of them confirmed it to the press, there had been lots of speculation around it as fans and gossip platforms realized she hadn't been wearing her engagement ring. Breakup rumors had been surrounding the pair for weeks but it wasn't something that concerned either one of them.
"And you got a tattoo?!" Jordyn questioned. "Wow!"
"I got it with Chris."
"Matching tattoos? That's dope, Phoenix." She complimented. "How are things with you and Chris anyways? Perfect as always?"
"Far from perfect. We're not really um- we're taking some much needed time and space but we're gonna be fine." Phoenix replied.
Within the four days she'd been in New York, she'd only spoken to Chris one or two times. It wasn't as if the couple was upset or avoiding one another, Chris simply wanted to give her space and tried not to bother her as he knew she would reach other when she felt it necessary; And Phoenix also wanted to give him the time and space to both miss her and figure out if he was better off with or without her.
"I'm sorry to hear that." Jordyn apologized. "How's Tom?"
"Wouldn't you like to know." Phoenix mumbled under her breath.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Oh nothing..." She trailed off. "I just find it interesting that you're bringing little ol Thomas up."
"You told me to stay away from him and I have." Jordyn frowned. "You two seem to have a very close relationship, closer than you and I ever had. There's no way I'd get in the middle of that."
"I still find it surprising that you and Tom have never hooked up." Benoit directed at Phoenix. "I secretly think you two are soulmates; and everything that's going on in your relationship with Chris is confirming why team Phoenom is where I'm betting my money."
