5 days had gone by since Chris and Phoenix's big argument and neither had mentioned it since. They spent the days tip toeing around one another and the nights making love for hours, releasing the pent up frustration they carried over from the mornings and afternoons prior.

"Excuse me." Phoenix spoke without making eye contact with Chris, who was blocking the dishwasher where her favorite tumbler was. She tried her hardest not to look his naked body because it'd only get her in trouble.

"Sorry." He apologized before moving over a few steps and closer to the Keurig that was currently heating up water for his coffee. Showing less discipline than his partner, Chris couldn't help but to take a look at Phoenix's bum as she bent down to open the dishwasher.

"You're fine." She replied while removing her cup and closing the dishwasher. She could feel Chris staring at her naked body and decided to ignore his glare and not indulge in her temptations.

"You want some coffee?"

"No, I'm just gonna make tea."

"Okay." Chris cleared his throat after refocusing his attention on the Keurig in front of him.

He hated the fact that their mornings were so terrible but the nights always made up for it. They had spent 3 sometimes 4 hours having sex every night for the last 5 days to avoid discussing the issues they were having; and when morning came around, it was like a switch went off and they were back to awkwardly tolerating one another.

"Do you think maybe we should talk about the other night?" Chris asked, looking into Phoenix's eyes for the first time the entire day.

"Umm..." Phoenix trailed off while opening the refrigerator to retrieve an apple. "I don't really want to, no."

"We can't keep living like this though." He sighed. "If we're not going to try and work through this, we might as well just break up."

"Break up?" She repeated before meeting Chris's gaze. "Is that what you want to do?"

"No. I WANT to talk through this."

Phoenix looked down at her watch after taking a bite of her apple. "It's gonna have to wait until tonight. I've gotta go."

"That's exactly what you said yesterday and what happened when you got home? We fucked and didn't talk about anything other than where you wanted me."

"That is true but I still have to leave right now." She replied. She attempted to walk towards the door only for Chris to grab her arm, dropping her apple in the process.

"You're just going to have to be late then." Chris spoke sternly. "I'm not doing this with you again. We're not going to spend another day avoiding each other, we're going to talk."

"But I-"

"Why are you so afraid to talk to me?" He questioned. "If I recall correctly, at one point I was your favorite person to talk to. What happened between then and now?"

"If we talk about everything, we're going to realize how different our views are and eventually somebody is going to leave. Or you're going to decide I'm not worth the trouble and find someone who will give you what you want."

"You think I'm going to leave you?" Chris frowned. He pulled Phoenix into his chest, wrapping his arms around her waist afterwards. "You are such an important part of my life and we've been through so much together. All relationships have their highs and lows and unfortunately we're at low point right now. I have no doubt we'll be able to work through what ever problems arise but we can only do that if you talk to me. I can't read your mind, I need you to tell me how you're feeling."
