Chris spent about 5 minutes answering questions about his new movie and giving a little insight into his character before Ellen proposed that they'd play a game called Who'd You Rather in to which the guest chooses out of two celebrities which one they'd rather date.
"Selena Gomez or Rihanna?" Ellen asked as a side by side of the two appeared on the screen.
"Selena Gomez or Rihanna?" Chris repeated. "Well, Rihanna is a very beautiful woman but I'm pretty partial towards my wife. I mean, she's fucking hot. C'mon-" He stopped when he realized he cursed and chuckled. "Sorry."
"We can bleep it out." Ellen assured. "So your answer is your wife Phoenix Benali, is it?" She asked before both pictures on the screen were replaced with photos of Phoenix.
"Evans." He corrected quietly. "Phoenix Benali-Evans. I had to propose to her 3 times before we actually tied the knot so I definitely deserve my name in there." He chuckled.
"Three times?! Wow!" Ellen responded. "For those of you who don't know, Chris got married not too long ago to his long time girlfriend who is a vlogger on YouTube. Is that correct?"
"Yep." Chris nodded proudly. He just couldn't wait for the chance to gush about how fantastic his wife was. Because Ellen's people contacted his publicist asking if it was okay to discuss Phoenix, he knew it was coming.
"Why don't you tell us a little bit more about her."
"Oh god, I don't even know where to begin." He confessed. "Phoenix is someone I've known for a few years now but I knew, pretty much the moment I met her, that she was going to be an important part of my life for years to come. Anybody who's met her knows that she's just really freaking cool and it makes you go dang I wish I was as cool as her." He revealed with a laugh. "Before she started her YouTube channel, she used to send me videos of-"
"Nude videos?" Ellen asked jokingly.
Chris looked at the camera with a smirk before turning back to the host. "She used to send me videos of her doing everyday stuff when I was away for work and she'd narrate her day and I think every time I watched them, I fell in love with her even more." He spoke honestly. "Not only is she uber creative but she has a way of making people feel like they really know her. That's what I think her subscribers love so much about her videos. She's unapologetically herself and shares her life with the world. That's a tough thing to do especially with all of the prejudices and judgement women, especially women of color, face on a daily basis. She gets entirely more flack for things than I do simply because she's a woman and the way she handles it is just marvelous to watch. Phoenix is one of those people who is very honest and unafraid to express her feelings and defend others. I can't say enough great things about her. Have you met her?"
"I have not."
"You should, she's incredible!"
"I have a feeling that'll be happening sooner rather than later." Ellen said. "I know you wanted to make an announcement here today?"
"Yes! My wife and I are expecting a baby this summer." Chris smiled. As soon as the words left his lips, he was met by deafening cheers and applause from the studio audience. It made him feel good to know that his fans were happy and supportive of he and Phoenix's relationship. "Thank you guys."
"Wow, congratulations!" Ellen replied over the noise. "Do you know what the sex of your baby will be?"
"We do."
"Are you going to tell us?"
"I think I'd get in quite a bit of trouble at home if I told you that without asking my wife first." Chris chuckled.
