Shoutout to @ShawnLashe17 for the constant love and support. 🗣🗣🗣

It had been nearly two weeks since Chris and Phoenix's night of intimacy which was also the last time they had spoken. After having his calls and texts ignored for a day or two, he finally realized she had blocked his number. It wasn't as if he was blindsided by it; he knew his ex girlfriend needed to take drastic measures to prevent herself from running back to him in the same way that he had to use all of his strength to prevent himself from chasing after her.

He could only imagine how difficult it must've been for Phoenix to follow through with blocking his number but he definitely didn't harbor any ill-will toward her. He tried to get himself out of the habit of checking her social media pages to see what she was up to only to fail miserably. Unfortunately for Chris, she hadn't tweeted anything since the day after they spent tonight together which was a direct message to him: love u and miss u 🍺🇺🇸 and also happened to be the first and only tweet he had ever liked.

After a few days of moping around, Chris had decided to get back to his roots and surround himself with old friends while he was still in the Boston area. The friend he had been spending the most time with was Jenny and he had been enjoying every minute of being with her. Hanging out with her almost daily reminded Chris of all the qualities he loved about her and how much he relished in her company. It reminded him of when they had began dating except the roles were now reversed; when Chris and Jenny began dating for the first time, she was getting over a rough divorce but it was now Chris that was going through a tough breakup.

"Thanks for dinner." Chris thanked Jenny as he gave her a warm hug. "It was nice to hangout again and talk about things other than my failed relationship."

"It's the least I could do." Jenny smiled before giving his bicep a squeeze. "I should be thanking you! You're the one who recommended me for the role."

"Oh that was no problem! I couldn't think of anyone better suited." He complimented.

After being cast in a new romantic comedy, the director asked Chris if there were any actresses in particular that he'd be interested in bringing in for a screen test. The writers and directors behind the project knew right away that they wanted to cast Chris and were ecstatic when he signed on. However, they didn't have anyone in mind to play his romantic lead in the movie. Because he and Jenny had instant chemistry when the first met on the set of Gifted, he instantly recommended Jenny. To nobody's surprise, she killed it and got cast on the spot.

"Please don't kick me in the balls again during our make out scenes." Chris added jokingly in reference to the scene in Gifted where his and Jenny's characters were making out. She had unintentionally kicked him in an uncomfortable place during filming in to which he didn't mention it until long after they started dating.

"I promise." Jenny laughed as they pulled away from their hug. "We've had some practice since then, we'll be fine."

"You know what, you are absolutely right." He chuckled. "Do you wanna stay for a bit?"

"Sure."

"I was hoping you would say that." Chris grinned before grabbing Jenny's hand and leading her to the couch. The second they both sat down, he placed his arm on the sofa back behind her and Jenny instinctively scooted closer to Chris.

"It's been so nice being with you these past couple of weeks." Jenny spoke. "But how are you feeling?"

"It has been nice." He agreed. "While I do feel better than I did 18 days ago when she broke up with me, I can't say I'm anything more than just okay at this point. It's just been difficult to reprogram my thoughts and if I'm being honest, there hasn't been one moment that I haven't thought about her. The last time we talked was exactly 12 days ago and I keep replaying the time we spent together. I just wish I could fucking forget about it and her."
