(D/N): Dad's Name, or whoever you want to be your dad's name. Is it Hopper? He can be your dad, although the dad in this sure as hell doesn't act like Hopps.
Katie sighed as melodramatically as possible. Her head hung back, as she rolled her eyes. It would have been funny to see, if she wasn't doing it to me. At least I gave her an option to stay at our uncle's house, even though I knew she was going to refuse.
"Why are we checking up on your boyfriend?" she complained.
"Okay, first of all, he's not my boyfriend," I told her slightly bitterly. "And second off, I'm bringing him his homework from Health. He wasn't there for some dumb reason, and he's not answering my calls."
"He could have gotten the homework later," Katie suggested.
"You could have stayed home!"
It was too late for her to leave, anyways, because we were already at Peter's apartment. I knocked on the door, and waited for him to respond. It didn't take long for the door to open, but it was May Parker who opened it, instead.
"Hey!" I greeted May cheerfully. "Is Peter home?"
May gave me a strange look. "He's not with you?"
I shook my head, which made May become even more distressed. She opened the door wider for Katie and I to come inside, although it felt weird being there without Peter. May didn't know that Peter was Spider-Man, and I would have told myself he was out on the streets, but he really wasn't. Before I picked up Katie, I was out around Queens, looking for him. He couldn't be found anywhere.
"Maybe he's with Ned?" I suggested, sitting down on the couch. "They're usually together."
"I already checked with Ned's mom," May told me. "Apparently Ned walked him to detention, and that was it."
"Peter got detention?" Katie asked, sounding surprised. "They literally put a nerd in detention. Wow."
I flicked Katie, who just swiped at my hand, and began playing on the tablet she brought with her. Seriously, she was going to kill her eyes if she stared at it any longer. At least it would stop her from saying any other mean things.
"Why did Peter get detention?" I asked.
"He tried to skip class," May explained, pacing the room and thinking. "And he left detention, too. I don't know what's up with him lately! He seems so distant...."
May wanted to call Peter's other friends, and I felt bad telling her that he really didn't have other people, so I gave her the numbers of other Decalthon people. She called Abe, Cindy, and Charles, who said they hadn't seen Peter since our bus ride back to Washington D.C.
"He wasn't at the Decathlon, either," Cindy said on speaker phone. "That's all I know. Sorry, Mrs. Parker."
"Thank you so much," May said, ignoring the 'Mrs' part.
She ended the call with Cindy, and pocketed her phone in her pants. May gave me a worried look, and said, "Did you know he was gone from Decalthon?"
"Yeah," I answered, feeling a bit guilty. "Although I thought you knew that already."
May sat down in a chair, looking defeated. "I thought I knew Peter," she said, "but now...."
Katie was still playing Puzzledd™ on the tablet, and seemed to be very into the game. She hadn't looked up once, and seemed to be the only person in the room who was winning at their challenge. Usually when I didn't know where Peter was, Spider-Man just so happened to be on the news. I thought that knowing his identity would help me in the long run, but it was useless. I mean, maybe it did help a bit, but it just meant I had to keep some stuff hidden from May.
