"Eomma, are vampires really scary?" I ask my eomma who looks down at me, after tucking me in, to give me a soft smile and kiss to the forehead.

"Oh Kookie why are you thinking about that before bed?" She asks in a worried tone as she takes a seat at the edge of bed, combing her fingers through my hair.

I shrug my shoulders, not wanting to tell her that I had went into hers and appa's office and saw the vampire book. In that book they didn't look so mean but everyone says they are. "I just wanna know. They don' look mean or scary." I hear her let out a sigh as she continues to comb her fingers through my hair.

"Let me tell you something about vampires Kookie." I get excited once she says that so I sit up and turn so that I'm facing my mom so I can hear what she has to say. She never tells me about vampires so this important!

She chuckles at my excitement but she goes on to tell me about them.

"Well the first thing to know about a vampire is that just by looking at their skin or their hair you won't be able to tell if they're human or vampire. They look the same to us in that way but even then if you take a closer look you can maybe tell them a part." My eyes go wide in shock as she tells me this.

"What? How? I wanna know!" I scream out excitedly but she shushes me with a chuckle and I calm down to let her continue.

"See their skin is more pale than ours and smoother as well as clear. Their beauty is another thing about them. Their beauty is what brings them in their food." I gulp at the mention of their food as a shiver runs up my spine.

"People." I say and my mom nods her head slowly.

"But it isn't only their everlasting beauty that can tell us a part from them, it's their eyes." She says as she points to her eyes and I sit up a little more to get a closer look.

"See me and you have normal brown eyes but vampires wouldn't have such normal eyes. Their eyes could be gold, red, orange, and any other color. Their eyes help them see better as well as rank their dominance. See the top royal leader is the one with the g-"

"Gold!" I say excitedly trying to imagine someone with gold eyes.

"Yes gold eyes." She says chuckling about to get back up but I grab her hand, stopping her from going. "Eomma I want to know more!" I say, sleep leaving me completely, making the only thing I want to do is learn more about vampires.

"Fine little Kookie but you are going to have to sleep soon before Appa gets upset." I nod my head quickly and she sits back down and I go back to my position ready to hear more.

"What's another way to tell em apart?" I ask and she looks at me with a soft smile as she opens her arms for me to climb into her lap and I am quick to accept.

"Well they are sensitive to sunlight so you will rarely see them out when the sun is shining bright."

"So they get hurt in sunlight?" I ask and she shakes her head no slowly while saying, "Well not really."

I look up at her curiously and she looks at me with a look I couldn't really tell. "Their skin will start to get irritated and they will start to burn slowly. If they are fully covered they should be fine. But they heal quick so if they were under the sun for a little while they can go back into the shade and heal. That's another thing about them. They heal so quick not like humans." I look up at her with big eyes as I think about how someone can heal so quick.

"Like one cut and it's gone in seconds?!"

She nods her head and I sat there in disbelief.

"That's how they live for a long time. They heal quick and their body stays at the age they were turned. Not only can they heal quick and live forever but they can run faster than you can blink and some even have powers."
