Noah
I watched as her hips swayed to the music that was playing from the speakers. Her long, blonde hair tumbled down her back in waves.
A lavender dress hugged her firgue, displaying the curves her body had to offer.

She was so damn beautiful.

A laugh escaped my lips when Ansely pulled me onto the dance floor. Saying she had a few drinks was an understatement. Unfortunately, my girl was drunk. And by drunk, I mean, she had more than a few beers.

She held onto my shoulders to keep herself from falling as her body danced with mine.

A carefree laugh left her lips, causing me to smile. I would lay down in front of a car for this girl in a heartbeat. I'm not even kidding.
She was the only one who could bring a smile to my lips. I'm not saying I'm coldhearted, but I don't show my emotions much.

She's the only girl I'd do anything for without a second thought. I'd spend the rest of my life behind bars if it meant that she was safe. I'd bend down on one knee for Ansely.

And that thought has never crossed my mind with anyone else.

"Noah."

"Hmm?" I asked her, a smile on my lips.

"Can I meet your parents one day? You know my entire family, and I'd like to meet yours."

The smile slipped off my lips. All I could do was stare at her. In confusion. In fear.

"What's wrong?" She asked, slurring her words.

Before I could answer her, a voice spoke into the microphone, gaining the attention of the entire backyard.

"I just wanted to welcome Brynn into our family. We are very happy that Adrian has found someone that loves him as much as
we do, " Adrian's dad, Allan, spoke," We hope that you have many years of happiness. And I'm honored to call you my daughter-in-law."

Those words were a knife through my heart. My dad would never say those words at my wedding. He wouldn't welcome the love of his life with open arms. He would contribute the speech to complaining about how the beer wasn't good enough. How he didn't think the girl marrying his son was good enough.

Even though she was more than good enough. She was so fucking perfect. My dad wouldn't give a shit, though. He would not care how much I loved her. All he cared about was drinking until he didn't remember his own damn name.

"Noah, are you okay?" Ansely asked, pulling me out of my thoughts.

Giving her a tight smile, I nodded. I was peachy. So damn peachy.

"I just need some air," I muttered before walking over to the lake behind Adrian's parents' house.

With a somber smile on my lips, I watched the lake ripple when I threw a rock into the murky water.

"Noah, talk to me, please?" Ansely pleaded, sending a second knife through my heart.

I hated those tears filling her deep blue eyes.
I hated how I was the one who had caused them.

"I really don't want to talk, Dove," I mumbled, wiping her tears with my thumb.

"Okay. We don't have to talk. Just let me sit here."

I just nodded. Honestly, I desperately wanted her to stay, and I'm happy she offered. I didn't want to beg her not to leave me, because if I did, I knew I would start crying.

"Noah, if you want to talk about it, you know I'm here, right? I'll always be here for you. I could tell that speech really bothered you, and I'd like to know why. But I'm not going to push you on it."

And this right here, ladies and gentlemen, is why I love this girl more than anything.

I sighed. "You promise you won't think of me any differently?"

She reached for my hand. "I promise that
I'll love you even more if you tell me."

"The speech bothered me because I never had a real dad. Well, I did, but he wasn't much of a father. He'd stumble into the house at two a.m. drunk as shit. He didn't give a damn about my well-being. He would always criticize every single thing I did, but he could never get his life together. I guess it bothered me because that will never be me. I'll never be the one that laughs "

As I poured my heart out, she only listened, and when I was finished, she hugged me. I wrapped my arms around her, and pulled her closer to me, breathing in the scent of the champagne and beer she had drank.

"Well, I don't give a damn about your dad, either."

I laughed at her response. I managed to laugh through the tears that were falling from my eyes.

"God, I love you," I whispered against her lips.
And for once in my life, I didn't slide my tongue into her mouth. I didn't need to. The kiss was already filled with enough passion. That was the thing about Ansely. I didn't have to tear her clothes off to be satisfied.

All I needed was her next to me.

"Noah, I have one more question."

"Okay. Shoot."

"What happened to your mom?" Her voice was barely audible, but I still heard it.

"Um, she killed herself because she had depression."

"I'm sorry," she replied quietly.

"It's alright. It doesn't bother me that much, anyway. That happened a long time ago, and there's nothing I can do about it."

I slid my hand in hers, and rejoined the party.
I popped open a can of soda, letting it burn my throat.

"I have an announcement to make," Brynn spoke over the noise.

Every head turned towards her, curiosity evident in their eyes.

"Well, I guess we have an announcement to make," she smiled, placing her hand on her stomach.

Can't say I'm surprised. Those two did spend a year traveling Europe. I'd be amazed if she did not become pregnant.

"Seriously?" Adrian asked, with a smile.

"Seriously. We're having a baby."

He picked up his wife, twirling her around,
"I can't believe it. We're having a baby."

"Well, believe it!" I shouted, "you're the only
one she has had sex with. It's obviously yours, dude."

He responded by flipping me off.

"Sorry," I laughed, "I believe that's Brynn's job! That is why you got her pregnant, man!"

Brynn blushed a dark red, and Adrian had nothing to say. I laughed. Am I wrong, though?
No? Alright then.

Ansely pressed a soft kiss against my lips, causing me to smile. He just might use that against me one day. The difference between the situation is my answer will be "damn right."

And I'll have no regrets.

"Maybe, that'll be you one day," I whispered into her ear. Blushing, she let her gaze fall to her floor. I guarantee that I'll be a better dad than mine ever was.

As you may have noticed, there's a difference between Noah and Adrian's personalities. Adrian has more of a filter, and Noah is little more straightforward. Unlike Adrian, Noah has no problem putting people in their place, especially Jake. To be honest, Jake needs someone to put him in his place.
