The boy next door

Chapter 7

"Have you talked to Jungkook yet?", Soo Ah asked me, "I think you haven't seen each other in ages."

"Yes, I've talked to him in school", I answered looking around. Their house seemed really welcoming: bright furniture, a lot of lights and a really comfy couch.

"Oh that's good. He's here too", she said grabbing her bag and keys, "I'm really sorry, Y/N. I have to leave you alone for another two hours. I need to get some groceries. I hope you're okay with that. Just turn on the TV if you want to or I can call Jungkook downstairs."

"Oh no, I'm fine. Thank you", I answered inwardly panicking. "Okay then. Bye bye", she said and was about to leave when Jungkook appeared in the doorway.

"Oh, Kookie there you are", she said and pecked his cheek. She had to tiptoe for that because he was so tall. It looked really cute.

When he saw me he raised an eyebrow. "Y/N will have dinner with us. She's alone at home right now", she explained and ruffled his hair, "I'll get going. Have fun."

And with that she just left us alone. My insides were panicking and I tried my best to stay calm.

"So your parents are gone?", he asked and flopped on the couch. Unwillingly I sat down on the other side of the couch as I didn't see any other exit of this awkward situation.

"Yes, they're on a business trip. And my brother's at a friend's house", I explained trying to avoid eye contact.

"You're cute when you're getting all shy", he said chuckling.

"Stop saying things like that", I said getting annoyed because he's making me blush again.

"Why? Are you still mad because of what happened two years ago?", he asked smirking while the rain started to get louder and drummed against the window. Followed by a quiet thunder.

My body stiffened. I hate thunderstorms. I really hate them. They scare me. Normally I would grab my earphones and hide under my fluffy blanket until it's over. But this wasn't normally.

But he could probably tell from my face that I felt uncomfortable. "Are you alright?", he asked seeming truly concerned.

"Um, I- AH!", lightening and a very loud thunder made me flinch and a scream escaped my lips.

"I'm afraid of thunderstorms", I whispered pulling my legs closer to my body and wrapping my arms around them. In that moment my fear really got the best of me and I couldn't do anything against it.

"That's okay. I understand", he said calmly.

If I hadn't been that scared I would have been surprised by his soft side but I didn't mind in that moment. "Do you want to distract yourself?", he asked and I just nodded.

He put on any show on TV and turned up the volume so the noise from outside was almost not hearable.

The next thing he did made me blush again but it was exactly what I needed. He reached out his arm and pulled me gently close to him.

Another thunder sounded and made me flinch again.

"Shhh, it's okay. When I was small I was also scared of thunderstorms. I know they're very loud but they can't harm you", he told me. My head rested on his chest and his arm was around my shoulder holding me firmly.

His breathing and soothing voice slowly made me doze off until I fell asleep almost fully on top of him. HIM.

Jungkook's POV

My mum opened the door completely soaked by the rain and arms full of groceries. I wanted to help her but Y/N was asleep and lying half on top of me.

"Sh, Mum. She's asleep", I quickly said before my mum could make more noise. She nodded and walked in.

She looked at us and smiled. "I thought you weren't that close", she said and put down the shopping, "or is she just another of your girls? If yes I could get in trouble with her mother."

"Okay, got it", I cut her off. "No seriously, Kook. You can't break her heart", she emphasised and lifted her head so she could put a pillow underneath.

"I won't, Mum. She's different", I admitted and got a blanket to cover her body. "Okay, I trust you then."

End of Jungkook's POV

OMG, what has happened?, I thought panicking and quickly sat up. I looked around and noticed that I'm still at the Jeon's house. Oh no, I fell asleep. On his lap.

I folded the blanket and searched for a small sheet of paper and a pen. I wanted to leave as soon as possible. Fortunately I woke up early because I was hungry so no one was awake yet.

Dear Soo Ah,
Thank you for having me last night. I'm sorry I fell asleep. I need to get ready for school so I already left. Don't worry about me!

I quietly closed the door and rushed over to my house. I got changed and prepared my stuff for school trying to forget about the embarrassing night.

While I made my breakfast I checked my messages because I left my phone at home when I was next door. Two missed calls from Soojung and three new messages. Well, I'll talk to her in school anyway.

Before I left the house I quickly checked if Jungkook was anywhere to be seen. I really didn't want to talk to him about what has happened yesterday. Another humiliating moment between us.

I pulled my hood down to cover my face and rushed to school.
