"What are we supposed to say to Bonnie?" Ric asked Riley in a low voice the next day. They were at Whitmore House (because she'd always feel weird calling it 'her' house) discussing the Phoenix Stone.

"Bonnie thinks we destroyed it," Riley reminded him. "We don't have to say anything to her. Not yet, at least."

Ric nodded, frowning. "Do you want to talk about what you saw?"

She'd spent the night going over the visions in her head again and again - but there was nothing she could find that connected whatever she saw to the stone.

At that moment, they heard Damon's footsteps coming down the stairs.

"Nope. Not even a little bit," she answered Ric's question in a hushed voice. She didn't want to think about what she saw, and she certainly didn't want to talk about it within Damon's earshot. "So, not only does Lily still have Caroline," she said, mostly to Damon, who was only dressed in a towel. "But she's also kidnapped Elena's coffin?"

"Yes," Damon confirmed smugly. "But I have a plan... involving a certain missing Heretic."

"Wait, there's another Heretic?" Ric asked, frowning. Damon nodded, happy to reveal the extent of his plan.

"Once we hunt down the last one, we kidnap him, and negotiate an old-fashioned hostage swap."

Riley raised an eyebrow skeptically. "You want to kidnap a Heretic? Um, you know how powerful they are, right?"

"I know," Damon acknowledged, still smiling. "Which is why there'll be four of us." Before either of them could react, Damon focused his attentions towards the front door. "Hi, Bon-Bon!"

Bonnie caught sight of Damon in a towel and shuddered slightly, before turning to Ric. "You destroyed the Phoenix stone, right?"

"Why?" Ric asked, deliberately not looking at Riley. "What happened?"

Bonnie heaved a sigh and took a seat on the couch. "I just had a vision," she revealed. "A flash of horrified people with x-shaped wounds on their skin. And when I opened my eyes, ten minutes had gone by."

Ric looked slightly uncomfortable as he answered. "The stone's gone. I, you know, watched it dissolve in hydrofluoric acid."

Bonnie raised an eyebrow doubtfully. "You're positive?"

"I watched him do it," Riley lied smoothly. "Seriously, Bonnie, it's gone. I promise."

Damon chose that moment to reenter the conversation. "Who wants to go to Myrtle Beach?"

"I have class," Bonnie said.

"I'm busy," Ric added dismissively.

"I sincerely doubt Lily sent her missing Heretic to Myrtle Beach," Riley told him.

Damon waved his phone at her, his tone smug. "She made a bunch of phone calls that bounced off a cell tower there, and something tells me that she isn't planning her spring break. But fine... if you guys want her to keep Elena forever..."

The other three looked at each other with the same exasperated expression. Bonnie sighed, knowing that she now had no choice.

"Does agreeing to go mean you putting on pants?" Ric wondered. In response, Damon pulled the towel from around his waist and threw it into his male best friend's face, giving the girls a view that made Bonnie quickly close her eyes.

"Well then," Riley stated, feigning excitement. "Let's go get killed by a Heretic."

"So, what's the plan?" Riley asked, walking with her vervain gun pressed to her thigh. They had managed to track the Heretic, Oscar, to a hotel.

"Magic," Damon told her, pointing at Bonnie. "Vervain." This time he pointed at both Ric and Riley. Then he pointed at himself. "Neck snap."
