{4} Flower Shop Boy

Story summary: Anne works at a flower shop in Avonlea with Marilla until one day Gilbert comes in to get some flowers for Anne

It was a normal day in Avonlea and Anne was working at a flower shop down town of Avonlea to raise money for the college that she was dreaming about going to since she was 10, Anne was setting up the flowers in the window until she heard a doorbell

"Hey welcome to Avonlea flower shop how may I.... Gilbert what are you doing here?" Asked anne

Gilbert stormed up to anne

"I didn't know you worked here," Smiled Gilbert

Anne and Gilbert were very good friends and potential crushes.

"Yea I need the extra money for school," Said Anne

"Nice, anyway I'm here to pick up an order,"

Anne Smiled

"Who is it for?" Asked anne as she placed the back of her hand underneath her chin grinning, Gilbert laughed.

"No one actually," Said Gilbert as he nervously laughed while scratching the back of his neck

Anne let out a little sigh

"Ok well let me grab those for you," Said Anne as she went into the back to grabbed the order then came back with it

Anne put the flower basket on the counter landed it with a big thud

"What did you order Blythe?" Laughed Anne

"That for your to wonder about and for me to know about," Said Gilbert as he grabbed the flower basket and slammed a 10 dollar bill on the counter winking at Anne as he left.

A few hours later has passed and Anne came home from a long day of work. Marilla was still at the flowershop shutting everything down, as Anne walked through the door she spotted something on the counter. Anne thought it looked familiar but Anne read the note anyways

Dear Anne.
Roses are red
Violet are blue
Your hair is cuter than carrots
And so are you

~sincerely you secret admirer

Anne wondered who it could be from butbhalf of her know who it was from. So Anne smiled as she grabbed her coat and walked out of the house.

As Anne arrived at her location she smiled and walked up the stairs and knocked on the door.

Soon someone answered it.

"Hello Anne," Said Gilbert

"Thanks for the flowers and the poem," Smiled Anne "That was really sweet,"

"How did you know it was from me?" Asked Gilbert

" nobody doesn't call me carrots but you," Smiled Anne

"Well I'm glad you like it..."

"Why did you do it?" Asked anne

Gilbert sighed

"I did it because I couldn't tell you my feelings in person."

"What are those feelings?" Asked anne

"Anne.... I like you.... I want to be more than just friends,"

"I like you to Gilbert," Smiled Anne

"So would you be my girlfriend?"

"I would love to," Smiled Anne

And with that they locked hands and lived happily ever after
