{7} The Avonlea County Fair

Story summary: It's fair season in Avonlea and Gilbert asked Anne to be his date to the fair.

I got this idea from when I went to the fair the other day so this is based on a real life event, well part of it not all of it

Anne and Gilbert are dating in this one shot

Modern Day/Fluffy Au

Today was the big day for Everyone in Avonlea. It was the county fair, the county fair always came to Avonlea every September, this indeed was Anne's first county fair and her boyfriend Gilbert Blythe has asked her to be his date to the fair.

Anne was getting ready as she put on a sky blue halter top along with some white shorts and tennis shoes, as she tied her hair into two Dutch braids going down till the mid way of her back.

"Anne Gilbert's here!" Said marilla

Anne Smiled

"Coming!" Said Anne as she grabbed her phone and backpack with her wallet of money that she earned from her job along with her phone and running out of her bedroom and down the stairs

As Anne arrived downstairs she saw Gilbert standing there with the almost identical matching outfit as Anne, a blue t-shirt that was plain, white shorts and tennis shoes alongside his hair swooped the the side

"Ready to go?" Smiled Gilbert as he held Anne's hand

"Yep!" Said Anne as she smiled

"Ok kids have fun but remember be home before 10," Said marilla

"And I got my eye close on you boy," Said Matthew making Anne laugh and Gilbert scared

"No problem Mr Cuthbert your daughter is in safe hands," Said Gilbert as he stared dreamily into Anne's eyes making her giggle and blush

"Aww Gilbert stop your making me blush," Said Anne

"Alright love bird get going so your not late," Said marilla

"Ok bye marilla bye Matthew!" Said Anne

"Bye!" Said marilla

As they got to the county fair which took about 15 minutes of a drive to get their. Once they got to the fair they got their tickets and wristbands to go ride rides.

"So Carrots, where to first?" Asked Gilbert as he slung his arm around Anne's shoulder

"How about..... the swings?" Asked anne

Gilbert Smiled

"Perfect," Said Gilbert

They waited in line for the swings and when it was their turn they handed the nice man there tickets and he scanned their wristbands and they picked a seat, Gilbert was holding Anne's hand

"I'm so excited but nervous at the same time," Said Anne

"If you get scared you can hold onto my hand real tight and close your eyes," Said Gilbert

Anne nodded then the ride started

They started to get high up in the air leaving Anne with her eyes shut and clutching onto Gilbert's hand real tight

A few hours has passed and they rode a couple of rides and it was time to go but Gilbert wanted to ride the Ferris wheel because he had something planned for Anne,

"Gilbert this has been an amazing day," Said Anne

"I know but it's not over yet,"

"What do you mean?" Asked anne "please tell your not breaking up with me," Said Anne "I couldn't bare-"

"I'm not breaking up with you but their is something more than that, Anne how would you like to go steady?"

"Wait as in... going out like me belonging to you and you belonging to me?" Asked Anne

Gilbert nodded

"Oh Gil, I would love to go steady with you," Said Anne as she gave Gilbert a side hug until seconds later they started to lean in and they kissed

This was the beginning of a happy relationship
