Story summary: Anne and Gilbert are separated for Christmas but when Anne gets an idea to visit Gilbert in Toronto, she sees something that breaks her heart

It has been a few months since Anne and Gilbert have been in a relationship and Anne has recently gotten a letter from Gilbert saying that he can't make it back in Avonlea in time for Christmas.

At this news Anne was sadden but as soon as an idea popped into her head she immediately ran back into queen academy to find Diana.

"Diana I just had the greatest idea yet!" Said Anne as she was panting from running messing up her updo along with curls and her dress slightly messed up, Diana noticed

"And what was it that it was so important to mess up your dress and hair?" Asked Diana as she sat a book aside getting up from her bed and moving towards Anne so she could set her down on the vanity that was in the room

"Gilbert not coming back for Christmas, and I thought instead of going to green gables for holidays I just thought why not bring Christmas to Gilbert," said Anne as she had a smile plastered on her face, Diana was shocked

"Anne are you forgetting, mother and father had arranged a special Christmas dinner for for our families," said Diana, Anne sighed

"Diana if you had a true love you would understand," said Anne "but I'll make it back when did you say that dinner was?"

"December 25TH," said Diana

"Well then I'll see if headmaster will let me take a few days off so I can spend it with Gilbert then I'll make it back in time for the Christmas dinner," said Anne, Diana sighed

"Please diana just this once?" Pleaded Anne "you'll be my best friend forever," Diana gave in

"Alright but don't break the promise or else your folks will be upset," said Diana Anne smiled and yelled making Josie and the others to come into the room

"What's going on here?" Asked ruby

"I'm going to Toronto for Christmas!" Said Anne as she stormed out but in her way out she hugged ruby

Meanwhile Gilbert was at school until a girl came up to him

"Hey Gilbert right?" Asked a girl with long blonde curly hair that was pulled up into a half up half down ponytail

"Yea why?" Asked Gilbert

"I'm Elda, and I was wondering if you were busy on the 23rd?"

"I mean I was supposed to visit my girlfriend but that not happening and why?"

"Well I heard your ambition was to be a doctor and my dad happen to be a doctor," said Elda

Gilbert thought on it, and smiled
