Byom could not take his eyes of the girl. She was a very ordinary looking girl and yet her face had the innocence of a baby. He has only seen that kind of innocence and guilelessness in his Mimi. He always thought that people like his Mimi were the purest being and they should be protected and taken care off. Their positivity and unbound selfless love are ripples that created more and bigger positivity.
Several times his Mimi will hold the hand of some Mad man and bring him home, feed him, care for him like her own kin. Baba always told him stories how Mimi always got little orphaned kittens, or injured dogs or starving calves home to Baba and told him to fix them all. Baba of course always took care of all them for his Mrinu. She always sat through the night for the calves still tied in there farm behind Jalsaghar.
This girl looked so similar to his Mimi and that intrigued and irritated Byom simultaneously.
Byom touched Mimi's feet who was already up on her feet to hug 6 feet 3inches son. And then she kissed his tired forehead...
Mrinu: Amaar Babai Shona, ammar Bukku Shona... kab ayaa re? Bataya kyu nahi Truncall pe ke tu aaraha hai... Tere liye Chingdi Machh banati phir. Kitna tired lag raha hai Bukku... Baith beta baith...
Byom just made her sit on the chair near the fireplace and sat at her feet and kept his head on her lap, closed his eyes and then sighed. All his tiredness and the stress about operating for more than 18 hrs. and then catching his flight and reaching here was gone the moment his head touched his Mimi's lap. He could hear Mimi ordering food and warm water. All things he required to Pupli and Tupak both. Both of them knew he will talk to nobody till he was not properly pampered by his Mimi. He didn't even open his eyes to look at the happenings. Mimi ran her fingers through his thick hair, while telling Tupak to call the barber to give her Bukku a good shave.
Byom: Mimi, bhuk nahi hai... abhi naha ke so jau? Kal subah hi kha paunga ab...
Mimi: Na Bukku, tu ankh band karke lete rehna beta. Main khila dungi tujhe, Dekhna tujhe pata bhi nahi lagega. Khali pet nahi sote beta. Thoda sa... bas 12 ande jitna khana.
And Byom smiled, he thought ....
"Mimi his Mimi, aaj bhi ghode ka anda, chidiya ka anda, haathi ka anda bol ke khilati hai, aise jaise aaj bhi main 2 saal ka bukku hu.
Ghanto titli, tota, chadai pakhi dikha ke khana khilati thi. Sirf ek Maa yeh kaam kar sakti hai.
Uske bachche ka pet bharne ke liye hajaro rang jodti hai, indradhanush sajati hai, pakhshiyo ko bulati hai aur kabhi HALOOM BABAJI ke naam se darati hai.
Sirf aur sirf ek MAA aisa kar sakti hai. Apne bachche ke pet mein chand dane dalne ke liye woh kuchh bhi kar jati hai...
Sirf aur sirf ek Maa..."
After sometime he opened his eyes... and found the girl still standing in the shadows of the fireplace looking at him and his Maa's hand stil on his head. It felt as if she was seeing something profound, enlightening and empowering. Who was she?
Byom: Mimi, yeh Bhootni kon hai?
Nilu's eyes went round and she immediately bowed her head. Mimi pulled his hair lightly and smiled...
Mrinu: Boka Chhele (budhu ladka), Bhootni kaha se lagti hai meri Nilu... Yeh meri Nilu hai... Kuchh din huye humare saath rehne aayi hai. Tere mannat ke liye Kali Mandir gayi thi wohi mujhe chakkar aagaya. Nilu ne nahi sambhala hote sar phat ke wahi mar jati main...
Byom: MIMI!! Aaj se agar maine aapko upavas karte dekha toh main khana peena chhod dunga humesha ke liye. Kitni baar bola maine, mere liye aapka aur baba ka ashirwad kafi hai. Nahi lekin aapko bete ki baat man ni hi nahi hai. Phir BP gir gaya hoga... Mimi mujhe kuchh nahi khana... main apne kamre mein jaa raha hu. Aap apna dhyan jab theek se rakhengi tab hi khana khilaiyega ab...
Byom was about to walk out... when Biren walked in... byom stopped and bowed down to touch his feet but his face was still frowning...
Biren: Oho! Toh Rajkumar ne farmaan jari kar diya. Yahi sahi hai, meri toh tum sunti nahi, Mrinu. Ab tumhare Rajputur ne hungama kiya hai toh ab toh tumhe baat man ni hi padegi...
Mrinu: (cried out) Bukku, aisa nahi karte Shona, Maa Kali ka ashirwad lene gayi thi tere liye. Tu samajh na...
Byom: (turned around to look at his Mimi) Agar duniya mein mujhe koi ashirwad na mile toh mujhe usme koi pareshani nahi hai Mimi jab tak meri Mimi aur Baba ka ashirwad hai. Lekin agar aap ko kuchh hua toh main yeh Rajpath, Jalsaghar aur yeh Bhawani Nagar sab chhod ke chala jaunga. Mere liye in sab ke koi maine nahi, agar aap aur Baba nahi. Bas keh diya... ab aap soch lijiye.. Ek bhi upavas aur main ....
Mrinu rushed to keep a hand on his mouth...
Biren: Bravo, ab bolo, ab kya bologi Rani Sahiba. Apne Rajputur se tark karo... main bhi dekhu zara...
Mrinu: Nahi karungi vrat phir, khana toh khayega naa Bukku? Kitna dimag garam hai tera, zara si baat pe itna gussa. Maa ko zara sa chakkar ayaa aur pura ghar sar pe utha liya...
Byom: (hugged Mrinu close) Mimi aapke paas meri jaise Maa nahi thi, isliye aap nahi samjhengi meri Mimi ki kya kadar hai...
Nilu thought ...so true, Jiske paas MAA jaisi maa ho wohi samajh sakta hai unki kadar.... Rani Maa was worth keeping on a pedestal and then worshipping....
