3 years later

My long satin dress flowed across the ground and I walk up the marble stairs to my mothers room. I open one of the large doors into her study and see her bent over large piles of paper, probably seeing what we can do to prevent the First Order from attacking us. Stress radiates off of her and bags are noticeable under her tired green eyes.

"Good morning darling, how was your sleep." she says staring at the papers in front of her.

"Better than yours, seeing that you look like you haven't slept in days" she shoots me a dirty look. "You'll understand one day when you're queen and I'm long gone, then you'll regret making fun of your poor mother." I bite into an apple sitting on her desk and I shlump into a chair across from her desk. "What are you even doing that's more important than sleep? You know if you need me to go anywhere I can." I know the answer to this before I even say it, but I will never stop asking.

"Oh yes because I would endanger my daughter again after the last time she went onto a mission she risked her identity by using the force to save a spice runner. Not a chance little girl." Yep the usual, she wasn't too enthusiastic to hear about me helping Poe when she got an angry message from the hangar of Kimiji about my tricks. "You know i've been becoming a lot stronger because of mediation and the books, if anything I think I should talk to Leia about getting a light saber"

This one makes my mom laugh out loud.

"Sweetie i'm proud of your progress but Princess Leia has a lot more to do than to help a girl, who she doesn't know, make a saber." I stop asking questions at this point because I know it's no use and instead just lay down staring at her ceiling.

My mother never talks about my father because he left when I was about 3, but my mother tells me that his father, my grandfather, was a very powerful jedi back in the Clone Wars, that he even fought with Anakin Skywalker. We hide my powers to everyone else in the kingdom so only us and the maids know. Well and Poe I guess, but who knows he's probably dead at this point.

As much as I care about protecting my kingdom, I think I miss missions so much because on missions I didn't have to be a princess, I could wear normal clothes and have people talk to me like I'm a normal human being. But lately with the First Order getting stronger my mother seems even more adamant about keeping my name a secret even to our own kingdom, I rarely go outside of our castle and when I do I can not wear my clothes, instead I have to dress as a villager, which I honestly don't mind.

My mom and I are taken out of our silence when three guards run into my moms room "I'm sorry to interrupt your majesty, but it seems as if 3 First Order transports have come into our atmosphere" My mother jumped out of her chair and frantically got together some files and shoved them in my hand. "Frances go warn the other troops, get the kingdom on high alert. And Derrick, please take Elise to my ship." I do not know what she was trying to do but I hope she doesn't think that I will leave without her. "Mom I don't know what you think you're doing but I won't leave the kingdom, not now of all times."

"My darling, if I'm not here then they will stop at nothing to hunt me down, from what we think, they do not know about you. You need to leave to save yourself." She walks up to me and kisses my forehead, "Just lay low for a year or two and focus on your training, you will always be welcome with the Resistance and maybe can even get our kingdom back one day."

"What about you mom? What am I supposed to do without you?" Tears are falling down my cheeks and worrying fills up my chest. "Oh sweetie, I'll always be with you" she says pointing at my chest, "in here, I was waiting to give this to you when you became queen but I guess now is the moment." she pulls open a safe behind her desk, handing me what looks like to be the hilt of a light saber. "This was your grandfathers, he would want someone as strong as you to have it." I grab it cautiously and bring my mother into a bone crushing hug.

I sadly leave her arms as the guard, Derrick, rushes me to the Hangar. I hear screams from our villagers as they see hundreds of stormtroopers leaving the transports. The solider helps me into the cockpit where I'll be flying myself somewhere. I wish him luck and put in the flash drive my mother gave me into the coordinates, I don't know where I'll be going but I trust my mother. My V-Wing lifts up high enough to where we aren't visible to the First Order ships, with tears streaming down my eyes I am sent into space leaving the place I call home, determined to save it one day.
