"Will you stop freaking out" Cesar places his hands in my shoulders, a smile on his face. I don't get how he was being so calm about this. Today was the day I was letting Cesar's dad, who had recently turned back up, from what I could tell Cesar really cared what his dad thought, within the last few days the two of them had been mending their relationship. This had to be perfect, if his dad didn't like me then I don't know what that meant for Cesar and I. "He'll love you" I took a deep breath as Cesar spoke calming myself.
"Okay I'm ready" I forced a smile looking up at boy.
"Let's get going" he held his hand out to me, I took it. The two of us walked out my house saying bye to my parents and walking out the front door. We walked closer to the Diaz household and my anxiety kept spiking. Luckily I had already met Oscar and the two of us got along fine, I didn't agree with everything he did.
"You ready?" Cesar asked as we stood outside his front door.
"Yeah" I said without any confidence. Cesar gave me another smile before taking his keys and unlocking the front door. I took another deep breath before following Cesar into the house.

As soon as we entered we were greeted by Oscar, who was arranging the table.
"Hey" he smiled walking over to us pulling me into a quick hug, then looking at Cesar.
"Where's dad?" Cesar asked as I looked between the pair.
"In the kitchen, he was adamant that he'd cook" unlike Cesar Oscar didn't like their like their dad, I didn't ask many questions into why, Oscar wasn't a guy to talk about that type of shit.
"Hey mijo" I turned to see an older guy walking into the room, a towel over his shoulder. Oscar shook his head and walked over taking a seat at table just watching us.
"Hey dad, this is y/n" Cesar looked from his dad to me with a smile, taking my hand in his and pulling me towards them. Cesar's dad looked from Cesar to me, he looked me up and down before speaking.
"It's nice to meet you y/n" something about how he spoke felt forced, he then held his hand out to me.
"And you" I smiled shaking his hand. He looked from me to Cesar before turning and heading back to the kitchen.
"I should go see if he needs any help, why don't you take a seat?" Cesar kissed my cheek before walking to the kitchen to help. I walked over to the table sitting down letting a sigh out.
"Don't worry about him" I looked up seeing Oscar giving me a reassuring smile.
"Easy to say, him and Cesar have grown close over the last couple of days I feel like I need him to like me" I confessed my worries to Oscar, he just nodded probably not knowing what to say.
"And dinners served" I turned to see Cesar walking in holding two plates, his dad behind with another two. Cesar placed one plate in front of me and the other next to me while Mr Diaz placed one plate down in front of Oscar who didn't say anything and the other next to him.
"Thank you" I smiled at Cesar as he sat down next to me.
"Anything for you" Cesar smiled kissing my cheek yet again, this time I felt embarrassed due to his dad being around, around our friends, Oscar, even my parents it felt okay to show a little affection such as kisses on cheeks, holding hands or hugs but around his dad I felt like I was doing something wrong. I looked from Cesar to the food, it honestly looked amazing, I couldn't help but wonder whether that's where Oscar got his cooking skills from.
"This looks amazing" I smiled looking at Mr Diaz, he looked up at me.
"Gracias" his voice carried barley emotion, I just nodded looking down at the food feeling more awkward then before. A two minutes passed of no one saying anyone, I felt like I was going to die on the spot. Finally Mr Diaz spoke up.
"So y/n tell me about you? What do you plan for your future?" He looked over at me with a plain expression.
"Well I don't really know yet, I guess I have time to decide" I was speaking candidly. Mr Diaz expression didn't change, he didn't seem impressed.
"So what about your parents, what do they do?" He questioned me. I looked to Oscar and then to Cesar.
"Well my moms a teacher and my dads a police office" I couldn't tell if the nerves were evident in my voice or not, Mr Diaz just nodded his head again, the table falling in silence again. I looked to Cesar who gave me a smile reassuring me.
"¿Cómo se conocieron las dos?" Mr Diaz spoke in Spanish, I knew a few odd words in Spanish (mainly swear words) but not enough to speak or translate what he said. I looked from him yet again to Cesar.
"She doesn't speak Spanish" Cesar looked over at his dad.
"Oh I'm sorry I just thought, most people in the area speak Spanish" Mr Diaz shrugged as he carried on eating.
"I only moved here two years ago" I looked down at my plate as I spoke.
"Well I asked how did the two of you meet?" I looked up with a smile.
"Maths class, I wasn't doing so well so I asked around to see who could help me" I smiled at Cesar before turning back. After that the conversation was just more small talk, Oscar spoke twice but it was just to be snarky to his dad. Eventually everyone finished, I stood up holding my plate.
"How about I wash up" I offered hoping to win some brownie points.
"Na it's fine I can handle it" Mr Diaz stood up.
"You did the cooking, in my house who ever cooked didn't have to wash up" I smiled taking his plate from him.
"I say we make Oscar wash up" Cesar laughed relieving a glare from Oscar.
"I'm heading out" Oscar stood up from the table and heading out the front door.
"Okay then y/n" Mr Diaz smiled, I couldn't tell if this was a genuine smile or not.
"I'll help you" Cesar stood up grabbing Oscar plate then his, Mr Diaz nodded before walking out the front door to Oscar.
