Royce learned it the hard way.
When he was soon to be a twelve-year-old he was outed by his best friend, Nathan Maverick. The news flew around school like wildfire and that wasn't even the worst part. His classmates exchanged weird looks whenever he walked past them, talked shit about him openly and poked fun at him. Not even the seniors showed him any mercy.
Rickwood high school was an all-boys school, heavily filled with kids that were taught to hate anything slightly different from them. It was strict, yet the bullying continued. It was well known around the city, yet Royce was still beaten up but no charges were taken against those kids in order to save the reputation of school.
Overall, the kids were given good education except they weren't being taught how to be a good human being.
It might've been unfair but Royce took each blow thrown his way and never complained twice. All he ever wanted to know was why.
