Falling

I was shocked at my own actions.

Sure it was just a peck on the lips, not even a full on kiss. But why did I do it?

I have absolutely no idea. The tension maybe? Or just the fact that his lips looked so perfect at the moment.

As soon as I did it, I immediately stepped back, slapping my hand over my mouth and slowly shaking my head as I realize what I just did. Daniel looks just as surprised as I am.

"Oh my God." I whisper, lowering my hand. "I'm so sorry Daniel. I wasn't thinking. I don't know what came over me. I ruined our friendship didn't I? I feel horrible. I'm really sorry. We could just forget this ever happened and-" By rushed apology is cut short by his lips on mine. This is not real.

But apparently it was, because I kissed him back, placing my arms around his neck, as his hands go to my waist pulling me in. It wasn't like in the books, no fireworks, but there was a warmth that I can't explain. The kiss wasn't rushed, it was gentle and soft. It felt so right in every way. I played with the ends of his hair as he deepened the kiss.

All my worries and problems slowly faded away. Nothing else in the world mattered at this moment. I never wanted it to end.

"Do I smell pancakes?" Zach's voice travels through the house. Daniel and I immediately jump away from each other, just in time, as Zach walks into the kitchen. What just happened.

"Ah, my nose knows." He says proudly. As his eyes travel to us he looks at us suspiciously.

"Is everything okay here?" He says pointing at the both of us.

"Uh, yeah? Why wouldn't it be?" I stammer, trying to hide the smile that won't come off my face.

"I don't know you both are really close, you both are smiling like idiots, and there is a batch of pancake mix that hasn't been made yet?" He states, crossing his arms.

"Wow. You're a great observer Zach. But everything is A-okay." Daniel says as I go to finish the pancakes.

"Right... hey Daniel could you come help me with something?" Zach asks.

"Uh. Sure?" Daniel says. As they walk out of the kitchen, Daniel gives one last look back, a huge grin is on his face. I return the smile, shaking my head as I finish the pancakes. Oh my gosh. I just kissed him.

"BOO!" I jump and turn around to see Isabella at the other side of the kitchen.

"I swear! The next person who scares me is gonna get hit." I huff.

"Oh! How was last night?" I ask, wiggling my eyebrows.

"It wasn't like that." She sneers. "But it was amazing." She said enthusiastically.

"Oh? Do tell me more."

"Well first he taught me some chords on the guitar, which was super cool. Then he sang to me, and we cuddled, and it was just. AH." She gushed, as I turned off the stove.

"But it seems like you had quite the night too?" She said, raising an eyebrow.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." I said sassily, putting all the pancakes on some plates. My mind automatically going back to our kiss.

"Oh really? So you walking out of Daniel's room this morning was just a coincidence?" She pushed.

"No, but- wait. How did you know about that?" I questioned her. She just shrugged and ran off. I go after her, finding everyone chilling in the living room. I spot Lottie with Corbyn on the couch.

"You." I say pointing a finger at her, while walking to where she is.

"How many people did you tell?" I question.

"What are you talking about?" She looks at me, genuinely confused.

"I think she's talking about the fact that she and Daniel slept in the same room last night." Corbyn says smirking.

I go to lunge at Corbyn but someone holds me back.

"Can I please kill him?" I ask whoever is restraining me from attacking Chev.

"No can do." Daniel's voice says behind me. I stop resisting, shaking the thoughts of his lips out of my mind.

"Just a little bit?" I ask sweetly.

"How do you kill someone 'a little bit'?" He asks confused.

"I have my ways." I say, glaring at Corbyn, who looks slightly scared.

"Calm down feisty pants." Daniel says. I spin around to glare at him.

"You find this situation amusing, don't you?" I ask with an attitude.

"Maybe?" He says cautiously.

"I thought you were different." I joke, pointing a finger to his chest, then crossing my arms and walking out of the living room.

"Oh, and breakfast is ready." I should have waited until I was a little closer to the kitchen, because as soon as those words came out of my mouth it was like a stampede. Everyone pushed past me to grab food. Yikes.

And I thought I was bad when it came to food.

I look around at all my friends scrambling to get food, and my eyes fall on Daniel. Him and his toothy grin. I shake my head smiling.

I knew I was falling, but why did I have to fall so fucking hard?
