The Golden Pear [YA - Featured]

"I knew it—th!" His jaws clicked as Freya hit his chin using an uppercut. She caught him completely off guard, storming from the room.

He massaged his chin, getting owned by her for the second time. "She knows some moves," he pondered. "Or she watched too many action movies." A tiny smile appeared on his face.

Then his eyes fell on two girls, and the world realized it should get out of his path.

"Hey, you two!" he shouted, striding their way.

The girls hid their heads, and the rest of the students quickly left the area.

"Got a question for you."

"Y-Yes," the brown-haired one whispered.

"What's with Freya? She is so... hostile."

"Well,"—the other started—"Freaka was always peculiar."

"Freaka?" The boy raised his eyebrow.

"That's... her nickname." The first gave a nervous smile. "When she came last year, she was already this weird."

"Yeah, she's apparently mute, and her face was burned."

"I've heard somebody poured acid on her for cheating with some other girl's boyfriend."

The other teenager puckered her lips as the first one glanced around. "My friend told me that cheated girl almost stabbed her too."

The brown-haired girl giggled. "That young man had to apologize in ten languages."

"Also—"

"And?" Kagetsu interrupted them before they could dwell too deep into stupid gossips.

The girls peered at each other, and one continued, "Shortly after she had arrived, a few boys were trying to approach her."

"Suppose they had a weird taste."

"I presume her exotic hair made them interested a bit."

The youngest Kamini crossed his arms, and they got the message to speed up.

"She ignored everybody, never reacting to what they've said."

"My senpai saw her slapping one boy for wrapping his arm around her."

Her friend swayed back and forth, clasping her hands. "How could she be so rude! He was clearly interested in her."

Kagetsu sucked his lips in. A shiver ran down his spine. 'More like invading personal space.' The simple thought sparked a memory. 'And that's what I did!' Biting his cheek, he realized how stupid he was. 'I should... apologize.'

"... could yell at her, and she didn't budge."

He jerked with his head, forgetting to listen to them.
