"We are friends. And I think I kinda dropped the honorific along the way or didn't use them... I dunno. I lived for years in England, so I kinda forgot."

"And he doesn't mind?"

She shook her head.

"So are you... d... da... ting?" Ueno's red face prevented her from saying the word at once.

Freya lifted her hand to fill the last spare space in her notebook, but she halted. Ueno's eyes were on her, awaiting the first stroke with the speeding-up heartbeat.

"I never thought about dating."

Her senpai let out a deep breath. It could be the truth, but what of it? She had lost her chance. Aiyoku would never look her way anymore, not without disgust.

"Try talking with him."

Ueno shook her head. "After what I've done? No way!"

Sketching a frame into her notebook, Freya bordered the new text.

"Trying never hurts." And further stood, "Don't give up."

Ueno dug her fingers into her hair, shaking her head left and right.

"You drive me crazy!" She slashed her hands out, spreading her finger as if daggers could spurt out. "Why are you trying so hard to make me feel better? Why do you keep trusting me? Why do you care if I cry or not?"

Ueno tightened her fist and slammed it into the ground that the dust flew away. Her body bend under the weight of her tears.

"I used others my entire life to climb up! To be at the top! To be Queen! You were just a stepping stone for me!"

Freya waited and waited. This girl had too much in her heart.

'Why can't I hate... her?'

The wind blew between them, and Taiga left to check on her kiddies. Perhaps she knew those two needed time alone.

Freya closed her eyes and let her heart flutter as her father's smile appeared.

"I hate that boy!" little Freya mumbled as her dad picked her after school.

"You hate somebody?" he asked, looking down at her.

"Yes! He made fun of my hair and thus making fun of you!" Her face twisted under her frown, letting her freckles get lost in skin dunes.

"Isn't that a bit too much saying you hate somebody? Do you know what it means?"

"Yes!" She lifted her chin proudly. "It means you don't like somebody or something a lot."

They stopped by the crossing, waiting for the green light with more people.

"Actually, hating is more than that."
