Chapter 31.
Fighting the Prince.

Ji-dwi, Soo-ho and Ban-ryu stood facing the entry of the palace courtyard. Prince Chang and Princess Sook-myeong were sat behind them. Silla's bound prisoners were on one side and the subjects of South Buyeo were on the other to witness the fight.

Seon-woo entered through the front archway, a cloth tied on his right arm from when the General injured him prior to bringing him here. Ji-dwi's eyes scanned the crowd but he couldn't find Sa-do. Where was she? His roommates seemed to have noticed it too as they also reverberated with the same concern.

The crowned Prince stepped forward to meet him halfway. "I am South Buyeo's crowned Prince Chang," he loftily declared leading to loud cheers from the Baekje subjects. Turning to stare at Seon-woo, he continued with an overconfident grin, "today, I plan to face Silla's King Jinheung in a sword fight. This contest is a fair one where we respect each other. Depending on the outcome, henceforth, the relationship between the two nations will become different. No matter what the outcome, I will accept the result. In the future, I will not make any objections about this incident. This, in front of Baekje's Commander and Silla's Hwarang, I swear."

As he ended his speech, his General entered the courtyard with a lady. "Sa-do," Ji-dwi murmured instantaneously, as his breath caught in his throat.

It took the other Hwarangs a few more moments to realize that it was their fellow roommate. They were so used to seeing Sa-do in the Hwarang robes, dressed like a guy that the new appearance left them stumped. She would have been almost unidentifiable without her distinctive features and the rare midnight eyes.

Sa-do was dressed in a white and pale lilac hanbok with wide embroidered sleeves and belt. Her hair was put up in a pretty half updo with a bejeweled floral pin and earrings for accessories. She joined Princess Sook-myeong at the front and stood on the opposite side beside the General.

"I hope you are ready to accept the outcome of this fight," Prince Chang warned, his lust-filled eyes burning into Sa-do. Sa-do gave a delicate nod in accordance her eyes trained on Seon-woo who gave her a reassuring look in return.

"Wow! She really looks different dressed like that," Soo-ho commented off handedly and Ban-ryu nodded in agreement mumbling, "I forget she is a girl sometimes." Ji-dwi remained still, his eyes never leaving Sa-do.

The fight started. Prince Chang initially had the upper hand and had already struck Seon-woo a few times before he managed to flip the tables as he attacked the crowned Prince.

The General made to move forward but Princess Sook-myeong reminded him, "didn't you say it's a fair contest in which much is at stake for Silla and South Buyeo?"

The General took another step forward when the Prince fell to the ground but Sa-do raised her arm, blocking his path and asking, "do you really want to ridicule him by breaking his own oath and making him look weak, vulnerable and defenseless? He will be the laughing stock of Baekje. Can you hold accountability for that?" making him back away hesitantly.

Seon-woo beat Prince Chang bloody. Though he was off to a bad start he quickly got back into it. It wasn't an easy battle but he had gotten his opponent to drop the sword and get down to a hand-to-hand combat like they had planned the previous night. He suffered from numerous slices from the blade, but he delivered more, using this opportunity to release all of his rage against the royal family. With every blow on the Prince's face, he felt like Mak-moon could rest a little easier.
