You looked at the clothes laid out in front of you. Fashion had definitely changed since the last time you were in the human realm. You had to wear some more human looking modern clothes now that you were dwelling the human realm. Your goddess robes are a bit of a giveaway.

Yesterday L had asked you your preferred style and when you said you didn't know what the modern trends were, he showed you some magazines. A lot of them seemed to have the same girl on the cover, a blonde goth. He must be a fan of her style. Eventually you settled on a style an alternative fashion magazine called 'fallen angel-core'. It was the closest thing to your usual goddess style clothes up in the aether. Elements from humans depictions is angels, renaissance era and Victorian era vibes. Very elegant and a good balance of black and white.

L was efficient. Overnight he managed to get you some of these style clothes. As well as more comfortable ones for lazier days. The pile in front of you consisted of silk nightgowns, sheer dressing gowns, shirts with puffy sleeves and frills, petticoats to go under the flowy skirts, dress pants and hair accessories. As well as trench coats, hoodies and sweatpants for colder days.

You knew you'd need more human clothes when you left the aether, so the only clothes you really grabbed on your way out were undergarments and some spare robes.

For now, you picked out some dress pants and a loose shirt with big sleeves. Just like the boys used to wear in the 1800s. Oh how you missed those balls. You brushed through your hair, making it more presentable. Placing the ambrosia head dress back on your head, something you would always keep on you. Ambrosia could be eaten, and lived for thousands of years without water or roots. So deities wore crowns of them in case of emergencies as eating a leaf can heal injuries.

You slept in L's room last night, he insisted since he was working late and wouldn't be sleeping much anyway. You tried to get him to sleep, but that wasn't happing, he was stubborn. Walking out into the other room, you found him asleep with his head on the desk, his laptop still open on case files. So much for not sleeping. A note from Watari was on the fridge saying he was out getting the fake IDs.

It was pretty early, and you were hungry. Opening the fridge you found more than enough ingredients to make breakfast. Deciding on something sweet that L would actually eat, you got everything for butter cream pancakes out. And if you were sneaky maybe you could put some rose water in the mix. Getting some of that enchanted good stuff into his body would help with his sad aura for sure.

Mixing flour, buttermilk, melted butter, baking soda, eggs and a dash of salt and rose water into a batter you made sure to add a tad more sugar than usual. This was L we were talking about, if it wasn't sweet, he wouldn't eat it. Pouring the mix into a hot pan, you cooked and flipped a few until you ran out of batter and had two big plates of pancakes. Topping it off with whipped cream and some berries, you got to making some tea as well.

There were many kinds in the cupboard, but you settled on lavender. Once again being sure to add extra sugar to L's.

You placed the pancakes and tea on his desk. Gently shaking his shoulders to wake him up.

"Hey, time to get up sleeping beauty" you said.

He stirred, slowly picking his head up and rubbing his eyes.

"Good morning, you should really sleep with hit back straight. You'll hurt yourself sleeping on the desk. I made you breakfast"

When his vision cleared he was met with the best looking pancakes he'd seen, taking a second to process everything as we was still half asleep.

"You don't need to be making all the food around here you know" he said.

"I wasn't going to make myself breakfast and let you starve. There's extra sugar in the pancakes and tea. I've watched you long enough to know how much you like" you replied, sitting at the other end of the table to eat your own food.

He picked up the knife and fork, cutting a piece off and stabbing a berry onto his fork too.

"Thank you" he said.

He took his bite, and his face lit up.

"This is good!"

"Thought you'd like it" you replied, stabbing a mulberry with your fork.

"Is there something else in here? It taste like buttercream pancakes but with... something kind of bittersweet?"

That'd be the rose water. If he can taste it that means it's working. The few drops wouldn't do too much, but baby steps. Pouring the whole bottle in wouldn't work. Self love is a journey you can't fully reach purely from ethereal magic. You have to work on yourself as well. The rose water would just be a little push. Like you said, when you're done with him he'll love himself more than anything else. Not in an egotistical way, in a comfort way. As a goddess of love you wanted nothing more than everyone to love themselves.

"Just some ethereal magic. Nothing harmful don't worry, it'll make you feel... a lot better, you could say" you replied.

"Better not be some love spell"

"Love spells are useless until both parties consent to it"

He picked up his tea, taking a sip. As he did his laptop beeped and he turned his attention to the screen.

"Oh great... more victims" he sighed.

"Oh no, a large number?"

"Just three so far. Just as we thought, on the hour every hour... he's mocking us"

"How?"

"We figured out he must be a University student because the killings matched with the time table of one. But as soon as we figured that out he switched the killing times. Essentially confirming us to say we were right but we can't do much about it. All we really know of that Kira is a University student in the kanto region somewhere" L explained.

"Hmm... that could be anyone"

"That's the problem, theres not much we can do about that at the moment..."

He sighed, finishing his pancakes and taking the plate up to sink, you finishing up quickly after.

"We meet the taskforce in a week, unless something big happens between now and then, we don't have much to go off. At the moment it's just watching the victims" he continued.

"If only there was something more we could do..." you said.

"If only... by the way, you got me thinking last night. Yesterday you said the last time you were in the human realm was the 1800s?"

"Correct"

"So have you seen a movie yet?"

The word clicked in your mind, but you didn't know much about them.

"I've heard of them yes, but never watched one. We don't have them up in the aether. The life ponds are essentially our movies"

"You wouldn't have seen animation then?" L asked.

"Oh! The moving drawings? No not yet. Only very briefly while looking at people watching it in life ponds"

L found the time differences around you very interesting. He realised while working last night that there'd be some things that you didn't know of. House hold items like fridges and light switches would be common knowledge even up in the aether. But thinks like video games, movies and cell phones you'd be clueless about.

"We should watch a movie then. Kill time until we get the next kira follow up. You'd be informed about fairytales right?"

"Oh I love fairytales, so many sweet love stories" you replied.

"Well, why don't we watch... uh- Cinderella?"

You smiled, exited to see a part of how humanity has progressed. And exited to see an old fairytale in action. After all, if you're going to be blending in as a human you'd need to know about these things.

"I'd love too"
