Chapter 11 | spotted

It'd been a while since the cameras were put in place now. L had pulled some strings to get himself into the same university as Light. Today, he'd make contact. And you were going to shadow him in order to feel the aura and see if the Shinigami was there with Light.

So you stood off to the side, posing as a family member watching their child at the entrance ceremony. Slowly the hall began to fill up, your hand sat protectively over your shoulder bag containing your mirror and flute. As well as normal human things like keys, phone and wallet. You watched as Light sat in the front row, no sign of a Shinigami yet. Soon followed L, sitting next to him. Light paid him no attention.

And eventually the dean of the University started talking, it was silent other than his voice addressing the students. You almost started zoning out it was so boring.

"Please welcome to the stage, freshmen representatives Light Yagami and Hideki Ryuga..."

Applause filled the room as the two got up. Light spoke first, clean and sophisticated as usual. He definitely had a lot of his dads traits. That's when you noticed it. Where he came from you completely missed, but the Shinigami was now watching among the audience. Bingo.

The same one alright, tall, punk, a pointed teeth. Now was your chance. Taking out your mirror, you had a plan to get his attention. Your powers in this form were limited, but your wits weren't. Catching the suns rays on the glass through the window you stood under, you shone it in the Shinigamis direction. Hitting his eyes, he flinched and bought a hand up to shield his eyes proceeding to look around for the source of the light.

That's when you made eye contact. You starred right at him, he seemed confused. You bought a hand up, beckoning him. He blinked in shock, pointing to himself. You nodded.

Spreading his wings and flying over, you saw the two boys walking back down the stairs, L whispering something to Light. Looks like both of you have made contact with a force of Kira.

"You can see me?" The Shinigami asked, looking down at you.

"Let's talk outside, it'll be to obvious in here" you mumbled.

Turning to sneak out the door, he followed you intrigued as to how and why you knew of his presence.

Outside the hall was empty and quiet, as the whole student and staff body was inside for the ceremony.

"How can you see me?" He asked.

"Better question, did you drop the book Shinigami?" You replied.

"You first, how can you see me? Your lifespan is... constantly changing"

You held up your mirror, and it clicked in his mind. He let out a raspy laugh.

"Oohhh, a goddess huh? Have the other realms taken notice of Kira?"

"Indeed they have Shinigami-"

"Ryuk, I'm (y/n) but you can probably see that with your eyes" you said.

"I can. Did the higher ups send you down here?"

"Not quiet. It just so happens I've been watching L's life pond. And this is one of the few circumstances that Devine intervention is permitted"

He laughed, hard and loud. If he had tear ducts you'd see him tear up from his hard he was laughing.

"You're with L? Oh man this is gonna be good. Lights gotten himself on deep shit if a goddess is defending L. Have you told him about the Death Note?" He chuckled.

"Yes, he knows everything. But I'm sure you're aware that the human justice system isn't going to believe a word any of us about about them until they have evidence. And since we have to hide the fact the Devine exist, they must find the book on their own. Meaning-"
