"Hello?" Dan answered his phone without looking at it.
"Hey." Came a shy reply that made Dan's tongue roll out like a puppy and if he had a tail, he would be wiggling it. "What're you doing right now?"
"I'm at the grocery store. Mom needed some things. What're you doing?"
"Oh, um. Zaide, Alisha and I are going out for a little bit. I thought," Rome pondered if he should ask Dan to meet him, "I thought, if you've finished, you could come and hang out with us."
"I'm sorry. I can't, babe." Rome could hear regret in Dan's voice. A light blush spread through his face to his neck.
"Babe? Oh, okay. See you tomorrow, then." He hastily put down the phone before Dan could reply.
Alisha shook her head at how love sick her two best friends were.
