The next few minutes were quiet, then it was all veiled.

One minute his mother was crying, the next his father was gritting his teeth before yelling at him. His mind registered just bits and pieces of the loud noises.

The next minute, Zara came down the stairs and was protesting. Zaide gripped the table next to him to held onto the actuality of the situation.

A hand on his should brought him back, popping his bubble. "Get out! Now!" Zaide's father pointed at the bag at the front door. "Pick it up and leave."

"Abdul!" His mom yelled, but it fell into deaf ears.

He only knew he had been crying when he looked up at the blurry figure in front of him. "Dad, please, please, listen to me."

Abdul had Zaide's forearm in a vice grip and dragged him to the front door. Opening it, his father shoved him, picked up his bag, threw it out too and then, closed the door on his face.
