chapter 7 " real talk"

Lisa pov

when I came to school I didn't saw Lara so I guess she didn't come.

so instead I got teased by Sofia, Linn, and Leigh even tho Leigh wasn't there. Jennie drove me home yesterday not talking. and that is what I like about her, she knows I am not comfortable talking about things and she also knows my secret as she is the one I've known since I was younger.

The school was over and Linn brought me home this time, singing out loud to her music until we were there.

I got out of her car but she did too.

" What are you doing?" I asked her, getting the keys to the main door out of my pocket.

" I wanna see your apartment," She said walking next to me.

I just opened the door and we took the stairs to my apartment.

" Where is the shy guy?" She asked me.

" who?... Ahh You mean Alex, well he is at work, why?" I asked getting my door keys.

" He is a funny guy...And awkward," Lynn said laughing. I smiled a little and opened the door. I let her in first.

" Well you got the wall out, one of the bathrooms, wow nice sketch of the kitchen," She said looking at the sketch on the table.

" Yeah if I don't change my mind tonight the twins would start making the kitchen tomorrow," I said looking at my sketch.

" Is that the reason y--"

"I won't go to the party, yes," I said sitting on the new couch.

" you know Lara told me that you didn't like the questions about going to..." I looked at Linn and saw her getting a little scared.

" Yes it made me frustrated and I still am b--"

"I am sorry about that, it's just...It's our last year and we also want to spend some time with you and go do crazy things with you, like going to parties, skipping school," She said cutting me off.

" I know, but you know I can't skip school beca--" 

" Because you don't have enough money for school but because of the kindness you got in, we know teachers talk about you," she said again cutting me off.

there was a comfortable silence.

"... You know that you did change right?" Linn said smiling looking at the ceiling.

" Yeah I know, I am not a scary person anymore, silent, less depressed, and I do feel good but then...There is so much on my mind, questions that I don't have an answer for," I said walking to the balcony.

"....I-"

" It's about my parents, life questions, second thoughts, giving up... and... Forget it," I said sitting on a chair. Linn sat down on the other chair looking at the buildings of New York.

" This may not be a luxury apartment building... But damn the view is good and I guess at night too," Linn said looking at me.

" Yeah, it definitely is," I said looking at the buildings.

" I should go," Linn said standing up. I also stood up and we got inside.

" Where is Koda?" Linn asked me. Koda is my beautiful husky.

" He is with my neighbor Pablo, he could be good use as he is getting old and weak," I said also going out of my apartment.

" Where are you going?" Linn asked me.

" To the 'shy guy'" I said closing my door.

" But first my dog," I said knocking on Pablo's door.

Pablo opened the door with Koda already on a leash.

" Good... hello Pablo, should I walk Koda out today?" I asked seeing his tired face.

" Yes please," He said giving me the leash.

" Take a good rest he will stay in my apartment for the night," I said to him. He just nodded and closed the door. we walked towards the stairs

" What happened to him?" Linn asked me

" I believe that his wife died tomorrow or Saturday," I said walking down the stairs

" Hey, my dad's --" again she stopped talking looking at me,

" do you want to buy an LP player for him?" I asked her.

" Yes, you can give it to me tomorrow at school, and then I will pay for it," She said opening the door.

" I don't think I will go to school tomorrow, because of the kitchen I said opening the car door of Rina's Mercedes.

" well I will inform the rest and we will cover-up for ya," Linn said opening her door.

" I can bring it to you tonight?" I said closing the passenger seat door.

" Yeah around 8 would be nice, My parents are going out," She said 

" Okay then see you tonight," I said closing the car door.

" See ya," She said driving away. I also drove away to Alex.

" This would be a good one for her dad," Alex said cleaning the box. I just stayed silent looking at it.

" Okay kid you haven't talked the whole day to me, the only thing you said is about the birthday gift, what is wrong?" Alex said walking to the car.

" am I a scary person?" I asked him opening the door for Koda.

" Well... I think that people are careful because they don't want you to get mad at them if they say the wrong thing." He said closing the back door.

"....Thanks," I said closing the door and walking to the other side.

" Kid..." Alex said.

I closed my door and opened the window of the passenger seat.

" that's life, people are scared of you or not it's better than nothing... And don't let it break your heart," Alex said.

" Thanks ' shy guy'" I said laughing at the nickname.

" Just drive," He said cleaning his glasses 

I Drove away getting a little sleepy.
