A lot changed in a short amount of time. The end of year exams came much to fast for anyone's liking and all the sudden the marauders were thrown out into the real world.

Lily and James found a little cottage an hour outside of London and moved in together right after school. Both of them were working in the order and had planned on getting better jobs once Voldemort was defeated.

The fears they had had about losing friendships couldn't have been farther from the truth. Sometimes, Lily wished they had some more alone time. Sirius and Remus practically lived with them, but no one complained. When they were old and grey, none of them wanted to regret not spending enough time together. Even Peter kept up with them more than any of them thought he would. He seemed to come around for dinner at least once a week to catch up.

"I'm heading out for the night," James popped his head into room that Lily was writing in.

"Already?" Lily stopped and looked up. James checked his watch.

"Well it is already six," he smiled and Lily set down her quill. James took it as an invitation to bother her and pulled her up, into his arms.

"If you must," Lily sighed dramatically and smiled as James attached his lips to hers. Of course, with Sirius's perfect timing, there was a loud groaning.

"Let her gooooo, we need to go!" He took James by the arm and pulled him towards the door.

"Oy back off!" James laughed and tried to swat him.

"See you tomorrow Lily-kins," Sirius winked.

"See you tomorrow," James gave Lily another long yet swift kiss, "future Mrs. Potter," he spoke cockily.

"Have fun," Lily laughed and let go of him. The ring on her finger let off a sparkle as of to remind her she was really getting married.

Petunia,

I know you said you would not come tomorrow, but I wish you would reconsider. I wish we could turn back time and go back to when we were little, when we were close.

I don't hate you, Tunnie. I forgive you for all those names you called me. I just want to be in your life again. The world is scary and I'd feel a lot better with you in mine.

James and I are really happy. If I don't hear from you again, I'll leave you alone, I promise.

I just want to be sisters again... not strangers.

Lily

Lily sealed the letter before attaching it to her owl, Herbert, and sending him off.

"Future Mrs. Potter," Lily repeated what James said earlier and smiled again as Herbert disappeared.

As Lily went to leave the room, a piece of crumpled paper caught her eye. Assuming the cat took it from the trash, Lily went to pick it up and put it back in. She noticed James's scrawl on the edge that peeled up. Lily listened to make sure she was home alone before opening the paper.

Writing was going every which way, but one sentence was bolder and underlined in the middle of the page.

Lily, The world may be a scary place but at least we're in this together.

Lily smiled and placed her hand on her stomach, looking out the window.

Nothing in that moment could ruin her.
