Warning

Mommy cooked the food
Before Daddy comes home
If she doesn't
She gets what Daddy calls a warning
And I can hear Mommy cry
Every time she get a warning
And I can hear Daddy yell
Words I'm not supposed to say
Their very mean
And when it's time I hear something
Slap against Mommy
This is what I hear as I lay in bed
"Honey please stop your gonna wake her"
"Who?"
"Our daughter"
*slap*
"Your daughter not ours"
*slap*
"She's your daughter to"
*slap*
"No she's not"
*slap*
"Ok fine she's my daughter but please stop she's in the next room"
*slap*
"Then you better shut up"
*slap*
Then all I hear is Mommy crying
And the repeating slaps
In the morning
I asked Daddy why was Mommy crying
Last night
Daddy said she stubbed her toe
So I asked why I heard slapping
Daddy couldn't explain that
So I asked again
And that's when Daddy said
"Sweetie it was just your imagination"
So I said ok
But I knew he was lying
Daddy went to work that day
Mommy wasn't feeling well
So I told her to sleep
And I said
"I'll ask Mrs. Rebecca to make dinner"
She did so dinner was done
When Daddy came home
But when Daddy saw Mommy
Sleeping on the couch
Their was something I saw
In Daddy's eyes
They went from something kind
To anger in a split second
Like
A switch was turned on
And that's when Daddy
Started yelling
At Mommy
Mommy woke up
Just as Daddy grabbed her shirt
And Daddy took off his belt
And gave Mommy a warning
Right in front of me
For the first time
Ever
And that was my last straw
I was angry
Angry at Daddy
So I yelled at the top of my lungs
"Stop Daddy Stop!"
He stopped
And looked at me
With those anger filled eyes
And he said
"What did you just say?"
I told him very clearly
"I said stop"
His only response chilled me
To the bone
"And why should I?"
I had to tell him
It was supposed to be a secret
"Because Mommy's having a baby."
Daddy just looked at Mommy
"Is it true?"
All Mommy could do
Was nod that it was
That's when I knew
He was even angrier
So I yelled
"If your gonna hurt someone
You better not hurt Mommy"
"Then who should I hurt?"
Asked Daddy with a grin
Just like the grinch
"Me!"
Mommy started to cry
As Daddy walked toward me
With his belt still in his hand
And that's how
I ended up here
On the floor
Bleeding from almost everywhere
Bruised from every hold
Staring at the ceiling
Pulse slowly fading
As I hear the
*slap*
Of Daddy's belt
On Mommy
As Mommy gets her warning
Not knowing that
My first warning
Was also
My last
