Is it wrong to fantasize of a new life?
Standing tall away from it all?
Here I am, enthralled
By the impossibility of a dream dissolved...
In recent years, I've evolved.
We all must in order to survive.
Despite it all, to strive in strides.
For good measure, be positive to set
All egotistical pride aside.
It's the forceful drive of life that keeps us going.
Our perishable humanity that keeps us mowing
What we view as less than green grass.
The tacks of fading brass are not
Something we can all readily get to.
Moreover, if it's on the basis of ethical morals less than
Being faithful to yourself.
To the sheer truth of everything.
Your own truth,
Background and youth and everything
That makes you... you.
Who are you?
Are you who you choose
To be?
Daily, we all ponder this somberly.
Don't fret because that's promising!
Why?!
Because we're still conjuring.
Searching our very souls for the answer.
A sign of anything... like a ghost knocking on our bedroom door
As we prance or...
Just something [out of the ordinary].
And, then we remember this
One thing that leads to another.
Maybe a memory of a past
Significant other or secret lover.
We're stuck and smothered.
Don't get caught up.
Death can be abrupt and there's
No going back.
No cutting slack on borrowed time.
It should be a crime.
Punishable by law but
If you're trying.
There's another day to pray
And achieve and portray
Who you are to the world.
[Evidently, I chose to be an invaluable hidden pearl.
A ruff's priceless diamond after
A few thousand years' twirl.
I'm just a girl... well, a woman rather.]
