Avani: *changing the subject* “So Nessa are you cool if we move forward on the baby shower plans?”
Y/N: “You are going to be 7 months and you really need to have one soon”
Nessa: *looking to Josh to gauge his panic level* “Would you come to the shower?”

Quinton: “I thought boys didn’t go to those?”
Bryce: “Not always… co-ed showers are kinda in right now right?”
Addison: *laughing* “What do you know about babies and showers?”

Everyone lets Josh’s non-answer go and moves onto making plans. After most everyone leaves to get work done leaving only you, Nessa and Jaden in the kitchen
Nessa: “Sweetheart, we just want to celebrate with you because you are doing something that is worth celebrating… but this is all for you so what do YOU want?”
Nessa: “I know he was scared. I was scared too… but it’s been months and I’m tired of having to hide that I’m so excited now. I’m so happy about this baby and he is still just stuck”
Jaden: “I know how he is feeling. Just don’t assume he doesn’t want this just because he is messing up showing it. I’ll talk to him and see where his head is before you decide he is unhappy, ok?”
Jaden catches up with Josh at his new office

J: “Hey man… the digs are badass my dude. You’re making big moves in life brother”
Josh: “I’m trying to anyway”
Jaden: “Can we talk about something?”
Josh: *leaning back in his chair* “Sure..”
Jaden tries to casually bring up how much life is changing for them both and relating how Josh must be feeling based on how badly he handled falling in love for the first time
Jaden: “I just wanted to, you know, talk about where your head is… the same way you always do for me”
Josh: “I’m just trying my hardest to survive man. This is so much harder than I thought it would be”
Jaden: “Your new job or having a baby?”
Josh: “Both I guess? But like at the same time I’m ready for him to just be here”
Jaden: “You know she is afraid to be happy… she thinks if she admits she is happy you will love her less”
Josh: *absolutely heartbreak and shame washing over him* “What? Why would she possibly think that? All of this… all I am trying to be is for her. I just want to give them everything”
After another long day, Josh walks into the house and sees the pile of dishes on the counter and only Nessa downstairs.
Josh: *kissing Nessa on the head* “Hey baby! I miss you having dinner with you every night… do you want anything while I’m heating up leftovers?”

Nessa: *turning to him in disbelief* “Um… maybe some of the vanilla ice cream in the back of the freezer?”
Josh: *plopping next to her with his plate in one hand and a paper bag in the other* “Oh baby I gotchu something way better than freezer burnt vanilla”
Josh hands her the bag and Nessa squeals as she pulls out a pint of her favorite rocky road ice cream. They sit on the couch watching a movie with Nessa laying in his lap resting her ice cream on her belly
Josh: *laughing* “It’s like a built in TV tray”
Nessa: “Oh that’s not even the best part” She pokes the side of her stomach and Josh’s eyes grow as big as the moon watching the container shift as her entire stomach shifts
Josh: “Woah…”
Nessa: “Yep baby got tricks”
A few weeks go by and everyone settles into their routine. You have spent your last paycheck from the restaurant just in time for your first royalties check to come in from a shoe company you agreed to market and really are starting to enjoy life as an instagram influencer.

Maybe it’s the fact that every wall Jaden tormented you with for months seems to have dropped at your feet and he is just so deeply and openly in love with you. He is in the studio all night, most nights, but that frees up his day to spend with just you when you two can usually be alone because everyone else is at work.
Josh is still working more than usual, but Nessa is finally excited about the baby making its arrival in a month and a half so you have assumed things between them are better.
