As guests start to arrive, Nessa seems to be getting more and more anxious. Josh still hasn’t arrived and hasn’t called anyone either. Nessa plasters on a fake smile while keeping her eyes on her phone next to her.
Everyone plays a game where you see old ladies near tackle each other because someone said the word ‘baby’. The cake is delicious and Kio tries to cheer Nessa up by constantly offering her another piece. All that’s left is to open presents and you can sense that Nessa is stalling. She excuses herself to the bathroom first and you follow
Y/N: *shutting the door behind you* “Nessa, what can I do”
You don’t bother asking what’s wrong. Josh didn’t show up.. You already know what’s wrong.
Nessa: “How could he just not even call to say he is too busy? It’s a Saturday afternoon and he already works every other day”
You convince Nessa to ride out the end of her shower and open her gifts

Y/N: *laughing* “Besides I saw some really cute stuff in those bags and Addison and I basically went back and bought the rest of the baby store the other day”
You settle in next to Jaden while Avani helps Nessa open her gifts
Y/N:: *whispering for only him to hear* “If he doesn’t show up before this is over I’m gonna kill him myself”
J: “Marriage and babies is hard to handle. Most dudes struggle with the commitment of being trapped in a relationship much less one that is forever like being a family”
You are completely blown away by his words reeling from the worry that Jaden still includes himself in the ‘most dudes’ category... when the door opens and Josh walks in.
He's carrying flowers in one hand and two gifts under his other arm. One labeled ‘For My Son’. The other ‘For His Mommy’. Nessa jumps up and wraps her arms around his neck in a way that you know all has been instantly forgiven
Nessa: “Can I open them now???”
Josh: “Sure why don’t you start with yours?”
Nessa starts digging through the packaging when she pulls out a little velvet box. She looks up to see Josh on one knee in front of her

The whole room goes silent as shock waves move through the room
No one saw this coming
Nessa: *absolutely stunned* “Josh…”
Josh: “Nessa, you are my best friend in the world and everything we’ve built together has turned into the things I value most in this life…”
“...No matter what happens, I know you’ll be by my side and I want to be your partner in everything big and small for the rest of our lives.”
“Baby, I love you so much, will you marry me?”
Nessa starts crying halfway through and jumps up into his arms before he can even finish his speech
