The Funeral

It's the funeral for my uncle and aunt. I can feel the sky's tears hit my face. It's not alone. Everyone else is crying too. I feel awkward and intrusive for being here.  I hardly ever saw my family or their friends, I hardly know anyone here and they hardly know me. I don't know me.  I can't say I know my parents anymore. Everything seems like a lie. Which makes me wonder, does everyone here know who my father is? I'm the serial killer's daughter.

A few weeks, I was involved in an accident. An explosion in my uncle and aunts house and I got caught in the blast. I had trouble walking at first but I have definitely improved.  My mom had yet to be found and the my mind keeps wondering where she is. I don't think I want to know. In the meantime I often worry about myself, how I'm coping. I've cried here and there but not that much. When someone loses a parent on TV, they cry for weeks on end. But not me. I live in a group home with 4 other girls. The oldest, Tia is awful to me and Anneliece, but me and Anneliece are really close as we're around the same age. I'm also close to the youngest, Mia. There's another girl, Riley, quieter than a mouse. She keeps to herself so much she's almost invisible to the woman who looks after us. We're all invisible to Rosa. Counting the times Tia has snuck out and Rosa didn't notice would give me a headache. I refuse to tell Derek about the neglect because I'll be separated from Anneliece and Mia and my friends at school. Anyways, it may sound bad but it's not really, not when I have Annaliece and Mia

Here I was away from the rest, my soaked black dress clinged to my knees. I was freezing, my dark coat was useless. The only thing making me warm was my constant shivering. I look around, searching for a familiar face to talk to but I failed. I continued to stand by myself until I got fed up and turned to leave. I was a ball of ice and I couldn't stand to be outside any longer. Originally I was going to take the bus home, but I didn't want anyone staring at me, dripping water everywhere. Instead I called Derek to pick me up. I sat on the sidewalk, curling into myself for warmth.
"Finally" I said as Derek pulled up in front of me, my humour returning. I climbed in the front seat with my head leaning out the door as I squeezed my dark hair making the water come out like a tap. I heard him laugh
"Shut up" I joked but he still kept laughing, it made me laugh a little too. After we reached my destination I climbed out the car. Staring upon the house I lived in. It was small house. 3 bedrooms: one for Rosa, one for Tia and Riley and the other which I shared with Anneleice and Mia. I turned to Derek to say goodbye
"I'll see you later" I said
"Ok Alyssa, see you later" he said to me before he rolled the window back up and drove away down the road. I watched as the car disappeared over the horizon line before I approached the front door. Opening the door made its famous creak of a sound and I was greeted by a sudden squeeze against my waist. I looked down to see Mia hugging me. She looked up, her big brown eyes beaming at me.
"Yay, you're back" She exclaimed. I smiled at her as she let go. Mia is quite small for her age. Like her eyes, she has light brown hair and bronze skin. Mia also has those cheeks that make you want to squeeze the life out of them. I proceeded upstairs to our room to find Anneliece sat by her desk
"Hi" She greeted with her Danish accent. Before her parents died, Anneleice lived in Denmark until she moved here. She had dark blonde hair, and hazel eyes and fair skin. Sometimes we call her or 'Anna' for short.
"Hi" I said back to her
"Welcome back, dork" a voice came from behind. I turned and I saw Tia at the top of the stairs. As much as I hated her, Tia was pretty. She had long blonde hair, dazzling blue eyes and she wore makeup like a beauty queen. I pulled a face and slammed the door making me and Anna laugh.
"How was it" Anneliece asked me with a sympathetic look. She'd gone to her parent's funeral a few years ago.
"It was okay, I guess. Awkward really, I knew no one there" I told her
"Oh, sorry" She says " Who brought you back in thought you were getting the bus but I saw a car outside"
"I asked Derek to bring my back"
"Oh the agent dude, right"
"Agent dude?" We burst into laughter at the comment.
