I recycle same old verses
To keep us imperfect
In fear of having it all
And losing it in one night.

Your name must have
Passed my lips
A few million times
And yet never belonged.

In these crystal clear mirages
Of happy endings
And forever afters
You blend in
Like a precursor to chaos.

We hoped for gentle
August rains
But we are
Two hurricanes
Colliding.
