Lucy's POV-
I was fidgeting nervously as I got ready to leave the hospital. Doc had made me stay overnight to make sure that I was okay. After staying there overnight, though, I was way too antsy in my anticipation to leave. It wasn't that I didn't like Doc or Hannah, I really did like both, but very few people liked the hospital. Least of all, me. I didn't like to be cooped up in a small room attached to too many machines. I liked being free.
"Can we pleeeease leave?!" I annoyed Sam again.
"No, Kale said that he wanted to be here with you when you left. We need to wait."
"But Doc released me to leave like twenty minutes ago. Kale probably isn't even awake yet! He came back from interrogation after six this morning before I made him go back to his room to get some rest."
Sam sighed at me and looked over at me with an annoyed expression. I was sure that he was bored of the same argument that I've been spouting since I was told I could leave.
"Fine, you stay. I'm leaving." Before he could react, I walked through the hospital room door and made my way outside.
"Lucine!" He called frustratedly while catching up to me. "You can't just make anything easy for me, can you?"
"Obviously not, where would the fun be in that?" I said with a sweet smile as I continued walking back to the packhouse. I patted Sam's arm and kept walking. "I'm sorry you've been stuck babysitting me since last night."
He snorted and shook his head. "I'd much rather be babysitting you than her."
I laughed. "At least I have one person on my side. Well, two... because Nat hates her too. Well, I guess I can count that as three because Cory does whatever Nat says."
Sam laughed at that and agreed. "
What makes you hate her so much anyways?"
"I don't know... She gives off a bad vibe and I don't like it," he said shortly and pretended to shiver. "I bet she's a witch."
"I don't know what she is... Whatever she is, is bad news though. My visions can't see around her, so I'm half blinded by her. The Moon Goddess didn't even see her coming. I can already see that Kale is getting wrapped up in her charm though. When he came to see me last night after being with her to interrogate her, he was... different. I don't know, but I don't like it."
"Agreed... don't worry, you are his true mate. He'll see that we just need to figure out what she wants and how to stop it. At least this will prove to him, after it's done, that you are real," Sam said and put a comforting arm around my shoulders.
"Or that I'm not who he wants and rejects me," I said slowly.
"Kale loves you. Kale fights hard for the ones he loves. I wouldn't count on him just throwing that away for this girl. No matter what enchantment she has on him, you have a real mate-bond with him. Nothing can compare to that." Sam smiled at me after our talking died down and ushered me up to my room.
The moment I got to my floor, it smelled off. I didn't like the stench. I scrunched up my nose as I walked to my door.
"Don't worry, I'll tell Kale that you didn't have a choice in waiting for him. I made us leave," I assured.
"Thank you, Lucy. I'll see you later." Sam bowed to me, but instead of walking away like I figured, he stayed standing there.
I tilted my head in confusion at him.
"I smell her all around. I know that her room is across from yours, but there's no way that I'm going to leave you before I know you are safe in your room without her in there. The last thing I want is for her to somehow harm our true Luna, especially by me not being thorough enough in protection."
