By noon Rio was feeling a little better. They spent the day doing random useless shit, and just chilling. Quila came over with some fruit at some point, which she'd strong armed the sick boy into eating, then scolded her big brother for babying him too much, then left. TJ sent a cryptic text that looked like it needed an expert to decipher, but from what Qani could gather it basically translated to 'don't die'.
It wasn't until a little over 8:pm that Qani caught wind of the time on his phone. His heart raced. "Oh shit! Fuck me!" He panicked, sitting up on the couch where he sat in between Ri and the twins, watching whatever the fuck Mariana was making them watch.
"What's wrong?" Ri inquired worriedly.
"Man I just fucked up big time, fuck! I had some shit to do with my boy tonight, three hours ago. Shit I gotta go." Qani said and got on his feet.
Raina said something about telling on him for cursing as if he wasn't a grown ass man. He ignored her and looked at Rio who merely nodded. "Are you gon be okay?" He asked, a part of him wanted to stay back, but at the end of the day he made a commitment to someone he loved and it was fucked up to stand him up like that, without so much as a text.
Rio managed a small smile that didn't reach his eyes, and nodded yes.
"Want me to come back?" Qani asked when he noticed Rio's smile was disingenuous.
Rio's demeanor brightened up immediately, "tonight?" Rio asked, and Qani gave him a nod. "Okay. Yeah, that's cool."
Qani bent down to kiss his forehead, at the same time Rio made to look up, so he ended up kissing just above his lips clumsily. Qani laughed at the mistake dismissively. He made to leave but hesitated when he noticed that Rio shivered a little bit just then, he was momentarily afraid the cold might be coming back.
"I'mma be aight just go." Rio said when he sensed Qani's hesitation.
"Aight be back soon." Qani said, he ruffled the twins heads and left.

Qani leaned by the doorframe of Bram's door as he often did after he rang the bell. He rang again when no one came out, but Bram's car was in the driveway so he was definitely here.
As soon as the door opened to reveal a furious looking Bram, Qani said, "Baby I'm so sorry."
Bram crossed his arms over his chest and huffed. "You're sorry, right." He muttered and walked back inside, leaving the door open for Qani to come in. "I sat in that restaurant by myself for over an hour looking stupid, and you're 'sorry." He airquoted the last part disrespectfully.
