~ Lyla's P.O.V ~
When I get to the limo, making sure no one spotted me dressed up this way, Giovanni gets out. He has a smirk on his face and my cheeks heat up under his gaze.

"Hi," I say, my voice merely a whisper as I get closer to him. He's dressed in a white transparent shirt that showed me his muscles and white pants.

He gives me a once over before kissing me on the lips ever so softly.

"Are you ready?" he asks me and I nod. He helps me in and shuts the door when he scoots next to me.

He looks at the driver from the privacy. "Portaci alla casa sulla spiaggia," he tells him. From the rear view mirror, he nods and starts the car.
[Translation; Take us to the beach house]

I look at him with a pout set on my full lips. "You aren't going to give even a tinnie tiny hint?" I ask, using my fingers to demonstrate.

He grins. "Surprises don't have hints. Relax and when we get there, you'll see," he says.

"You're not going to kill me are you?" I ask, slightly serious, slightly joking.

His expression turns hurt and I regret my words.

His long fingers brushes my cheek like a feather. He looks me in the eyes. "Never, principessa," he whispers and I smile.

I take his hand on my cheeks and hold it. "I know," I say and move closer to his body. I lean my head against his shoulder and stay quiet for the rest of the ride.

"We are here," the driver announces. I hear Giovanni move from my side and out of the car. I couldn't see anything thanks to the huge blindfold Giovanni had me wear close to the end of the road.

I'd been annoyed that he'd been prolonging the surprise but seeing his goofy smile had immediately put out the brooding anger.

He was being free with me and that was all that mattered.

"Take off your shoes, principessa," he says and I feel him take my hand.

I roll my eyes behind the blindfold but do as he says. Once the sandals are off my feet, he guides me down the limo.

My brows furrow when I feel sand sift through my toes. We start to walk and I feel wet sand start to stick to my leg. Were we on a beach?

"Giovanni, I want to see," I say and he chuckles.

"Almost there," his deep accented voice fills my ear.

He finally stops walking and turns my body. With his hands on my shoulders, he lowers his head to my ear.

"Toglilo," he whispers and I shudder. He helps me until the knot and I gasp when my eyes meet a beautiful and magnificent beach house.
[Translation; Take it off]

I could see the interior from the outside thanks to the glass walls. Everything was heavily lit, bright lights all around the piece of art.

I walk closer then pause. I look back at Giovanni.

"Is this yours?" I ask. He looks at the beach house, stuffs his hand into his pockets. He shrugs.

"Something like that. My mom left it to me" he says nonchalantly.

The cool air fans my hot body and I shiver. This time from the cold.

He notices and walks to my side. He stretches out his hand and I place my hand in his. "Come on, let's go in," he tells me.

I look back to see the limo and driver gone which meant we were alone for tonight and tomorrow.

I'd never been on a date before and I definitely wouldn't forget this day. The minute he shuts the door, the sound of the waves and the cool breeze ends.

I sigh in relief and rub my arms welcoming the warm heat the house offered me.

"So what are the plans for today," I ask when he lives my side and starts to walk away.

He looks back at me. " Why don't you sit by the fireplace while I make dinner," he suggests and my brow lifts.

"You can cook?" I ask not able to hide my surprise.

He looks at me, clearly offended at my question. "Just because you haven't seen me cook doesn't mean I can't. Let me tell you I make the best first class Italian dishes," he boasts and I laugh at him.

I walk over to a couch and look at him from the open space kitchen. "When you said we'd be going out, I never imagined this, Gio. The beach house, you... cooking," I say and giggle.

"A woman like you deserves more than this," he says as he works around the kitchen.

I smile and blush. "This is enough for me. As long you are with me," I tell him.

He smiles at me and stops moving to look at me for a while.

"Do you want to help me?" he asks. I nod and move to the kitchen. He kisses me the minute I step to his side. I'm taken by surprise but soon return the kiss.

We eventually pull away from each other and prepare dinner. We share our good childhood stories together. The whole house is filled with my laughter as I listen to Giovanni tell me stories about his mum.

It was hard to believe that a man who'd caused not only me but other people pain also had the ability to make me laugh so much.

Here I was, in a kitchen cooking with a man who sold drugs and weapons for a living.

Never judge a book by it's cover they say.

He was showing the parts of him he thought were dead and it only made my heart beat faster for him.

I'd say I fell in love with him because of his good side but that would be a lie. I also loved him for his dark parts, I loved him for who he was. I loved him for just being Giovanni Machiavelli.

I was living in a fairytale where darkness and war were the villains and love, the hero everyone waited for.
