~ Giovanni's P.O.V ~
Four months ago......
I bowed my head like a child as I let my father and Rachel scold me. I pretended to be more interested in my watch than their words but I listened to them.

"This is very disgraceful son. Your woman—pregnant woman— is fighting for her life and all you can do is drink all day. I won't lose any of my men to your tantrums," my father says.

"Andre is right, Gio. Right now Lyla needs you to fight for her. You don't motivate her to wake up by not visiting," she tells me and I lift my head to look at the two of them.

I wanted to tell them if they knew how hard it was to see her face, please for her to wake but nothing.

I wanted to tell them I only killed those men so I wouldn't kill myself but I couldn't because they were right. I couldn't spend my time drinking but motivating her to open her eyes for me.

Of course I was not about to show them, I'd listened to them and kept a blank face.

Rachel sighs in defeat and touches my shoulders. I tense not liking the touch. I was yet to see her as my mother but a woman who was trying to take my mother's place.

She ignores my reaction. "All we are saying is, be strong for Lyla and end Nikolai for once so she can be safe for good," she tells me.

My father stands up from the chair across before they both walk out, leaving me with my wondering thoughts.
--------------
"It's been a week exactly and you telling me you haven't found the bast**d?!!" I yell at the incompetent fools in my presence.

My tech team lower their heads and I just have the urge to cut it off.

Nikolai was scot free while Lyla still laid in bed. I couldn't stand it. The awkward silence in my office as no one tries to explain why they are useless is cut short when Diego and Roberto walk in.

Finally, I think to myself.

"We have news," Diego curtly says and I direct my head to the door. They all walk out and I settle on my seat to hear what they had for me.

I just hoped it was good and not a waste of my time.

"I'm listening," I tell them and Roberto walks forward. He looks nervous and it makes me arch my brow.

"I was able to convince a particular person to help us defeat Nikolai—" he starts but I cut him off.

"I don't want alliances anymore
I have enough," I say in a dismissive tone but he shakes his head.

"It's not just anyone, Gio. It's the first daughter of Nikolai, Imogen," he tells me and I look up at him in interest.

"Now why would Nikolai's daughter want to help us hmm? This could be just another one of his traps," I tell them.

"I highly doubt it. She seemed serious," he says but my answer is still no. I didn't trust anyone anymore. Especially an outsider. The daughter of my enemy.

"Hear her out Gio," Diego cuts in. I furrow my brows.

"You say that like she is here," I say with suspicion.

"That's because I am," a feminine voice says and I turn my head to see at my daughter at my doorway.

I waste no time in grabbing my gun and aiming it right at her heart. Right where they had shot Lyla.

She paused at the door and it makes me smirk. She should be scared because I was very unpredictable at this moment and could careless about someone outside my family.

"What. The. F**k. Is. She. Doing. Here?" I growl not taking my eyes off her.

"Calm down Gio. She is just here to talk," Diego tried to calm me down but it only angers me.

I switch off the safety of my gun. "Oh yeah. My gun is the only interested thing in this conversation then," I tell them.

"They are right. I am only here to end my father," she says with a cool voice.

"Let's do this. Let's say I believe you and you want to kill your father. Why?" I ask, still not lowering my gun.

"At least allow me a seat," she says. I say nothing and she sits across me.

"We'll leave you two to talk,"Diego speaks.

Roberto stays and I glare at him. "Right," he says and walks out

"Please don't be threatened by my presence. I'm here as a friend and not your enemy," she says and I can't help but laugh.

"Let's not push it Doverik. I wouldn't forget the gun still pointed at you," I tell her and her icy blue eyes fall on the gun.

"Answer my question. Why do you want your father dead?" I ask again.

"Believe it or not but my father is becoming a threat to not only your life but my family," she says and my interest perks up.

"He is crazy. He kills anyone who defies him. He takes advantage of women and little girls like a deprived monster. He is slowly poisoning Lena, I don't want that for Ingrid," she tells me.

I'm quiet for a while. I analyse her posture and her eyes to know if she was lying.

"You may say all of this now but what if you betray me?" I ask.

"I promise I won't. I need to save my family's future before my father ruins it," she says and I reluctantly find myself believing her.

" If I decide to help you, who will back you up. Don't expect me to protect you," I tell her and she smirks.

"I'm not the only one who is tired of him. I have most of his men on my side," she says and I nod in approval.

"Good but I want to make something clear to the both of us. You father is mine," I tell sternly and seriously.

"He's all yours but there's one more thing," she says.

"Lyla needs to be awake," she says and anger fills my features. Those conniving sons of b*tches.

"Who told you that?"

"Roberto but that was until he knew I was saying the truth," she assured me but it still doesn't make me happy.

"Why does she need to be awake?" I ask wanting this conversation to end.

"If there is one thing I know about my father, it is that he slips up when he thinks he has won. We need to give him Lyla so he slips,"

As she speaks I am already shaking my head.

"Hear me out. Right now my dad thinks she's dead. He sees no need to look at you. If he knows Lyla is alive, we can locate him," she says.

"How come you don't know his whereabouts? Aren't you his daughter?" I ask.

"I only show up when he needs me. That will only be when Lyla is awake," she says and gets to her feet.

"I promise to keep her safe but it doesn't mean things will be good for her. We need things to make things believable," she says and stretches out her hands.

"Do we have a deal?" she asks and I look at her hand.

I carefully take it. We shake on it but as she leaves, I can't but will wonder if I had made the right decision.
