All battles fought take place on a battlefield, for some it was a large plain of land, for others it was a arena with spectators, but today the field of battle is a simple table and the fighters are an old woman and her fateful companion, the owl from her staff.

"So, this is a popular game here?" Luz asked as she sat next to Eda and King on the couch, watching as Eda held up a hand of purple cards with eyes on them.

"Oh yes, Luz. Hexus Hold Em is one of the most popular and trickiest games on the Boiling Isles and any proper witch like myself knows how to play." Eda said as she crossed her legs in confidence.

"hmm, okay but I don't get how a card game could be so popular. It looks no different than the ones back home." Luz said before Eda placed a card on the table, sparking with magic energy before all of them grew four legs and gained roaring jaws. "Sweet mother of god!"

Luz jolted back in her seat a bit as she saw each side charging at each other like two herds of animals fighting over territory

'That is NOTHING like the card games back home!' Luz thought as Eda pulled out another card.

"Now keep this trick in mind, when it seems like the odds are slim and your back is on the wall, that's when you break out the card that can wind it all." Eda said as she drew a card with a stone tower on it. "The wild card."
