In the door way stood a pretty blonde girl. She had long legs, beautiful blue eyes, she was so skinny, the nicest eyebrows, the nicest eyelashes, and she was just Ryder's type. She was every guy's type. I felt jealousy boil inside of me.

"Uh, yes, sure! Of course you can!" Finn stuttered, obviously taken off guard.

"I'm Lily. I've been walking past here for the past week, hoping that I'd be able to join you guys. I understand that Glee club isn't the coolest group in school, but my parent's will probably be leaving here soon and heading to some other unknown place and I thought I might as well join the clubs that sound like fun. I heard from one of your girls that you were having a Little Mix week and I would like to do a Little Mix song but the only one I know is the one the blonde cheerleader sung just a couple of minutes ago and I would not want to make you listen to the same song twice in a row. May I?" She ranted on. She smiled sweetly at Finn, who seemed shell shocked. I don't think he had quite registered everything.

"Yes. Yes, you... may." He replied, walking to a chair and sitting down, a stunned look on his face.

I took a glance at Ryder, who had the same shocked look on his face as Finn. "Ryder, are you okay?" I asked, stroking his arm slowly. I was afraid he was going to leave me for her because it was a love at first sight kind of thing.

"She talks way too fast." He looked at me. "Like, she's pretty, but I don't think I can deal with her. I hope she's a bad singer so we can reject her, honestly... Marley, are you jealous?" He raised an eyebrow.

"No. I am not jealous."

"You're jealous."

I laughed at him and leaned my head on his shoulder.

"Don't worry, you're way prettier than her." He kissed the top of my head.

Music started echoing through the choir room and Ryder tensed up immediately. "It's a Taylor Swift song, from Speak Now." He mumbled. "Oh, she better not ruin it..."

I guess you really did it this time,

After that first line left her mouth I knew she was a way better singer than I was. Her voice was soft, graceful, with the potential to be powerful. The jealousy kicked in again - she was better than me, in every way possible.

Left yourself in your warpath,
Lost your balance on a tightrope
Lost your mind tryin' to get it back

Wasn't it easier in your lunchbox days?
Always a bigger bed to crawl into,
Wasn't it beautiful when you believed in everything,
And everybody believed in you?

It's alright, just wait and see,
Your string of lights is still bright to me,
Oh, who you are is not where you've been
You're still an innocent, you're still an innocent,

Did some things you can't speak of,
But at night you live it all again,
You wouldn't be shattered on the floor now,
If only you had seen what you know now then,

Wasn't it easier in your firefly catchin' days?
And everything out of reach, someone bigger brought down to you,
Wasn't it beautiful runnin' wild 'til you fell asleep,
Before the monsters caught up to you?

It's alright, just wait and see,
Your string of lights is still bright to me,
Oh, who you are is not where you've been,
You're still an innocent

It's okay, life is a tough crowd,
Thirty two and still growin' up now,
Who you are is not what you did,
You're still an innocent
