Standing there, in front of this huge, utterly breathtaking castle makes you feel so small, and so powerless, ironic since it's a school for witches and wizards. A woman led us into the castle, and it felt even larger once you've stepped inside. The women gathered the children in my year to go stand outside two large doors.
I was driven out of my thought when I overheard someone talking "What do you think your going to get" a girl said, I recognized her, she was was the girl who sat with Ron on the train.
"I better get Gryffindor, my hole bloody family is Gryffindor!" Ron said
I turned my head to Luna and whispered "what are they talking about?"
Luna looked shocked "well the houses of course" Luna replied
"The houses?" I asked confused
"The Hogwarts hou...you really don't know" she said
"Uh no, so tell me" I said with a chuckle and a sigh
"The Hogwarts houses, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, and Slytherin" she said, she saw my puzzled looked so she continued speaking. "They're the Hogwarts houses, each student is placed a house as a first year.
"How do they know what house your in?" I asked
"Well The sorting hat of course" she replied
My eyes widened as I heard them call us in. Luna whispered to me "Hufflepuffs are know for being caring, Ravenclaws intelligent, Gryffindors brave, and Slytherins...Cunning."
"What do you wanna be" I asked her
"Well, My father was a Ravenclaw, so that would be nice, but I don't have a preference...you?"
"I don't know maybe a..." I stopped talking as soon as I walked through the doors, it was amazing, I looked up expecting a ceiling...but it was the night sky it was breathtak-" I was brought out of my thought when I heard a girl speak.
"It's not really the sky, it's just a spell, I read about it in Hogwarts A History" the puffy haired girl said
"Way to ruin the allusion" I muttered under my breath.
Platinum boy heard and laughed
"What's so funny blondie" I said to him
He rolled his eyes and whispered something to dumb and dumber, making them chuckle, so I gave him an annoyed smirk. A girl who resembled a pug was walking close behind him like a lion hunting its prey
I noticed a hat, it resembled a witch hat from Halloween movies. A women who introduced herself as Professor McGonagall started to speak
"Before you can take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses, they are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw...and Slytherin
She explained the concept of the houses and then...she started calling names.
"Dean Tomas" The professor said. Dean walked up nervously, Dean then sat on the stool and the hat was placed on his head "Ahhh very adventurous I see... brave and courageous...
GRYFFINDOR
The Gryffindoor table cheered, screamed and clapped as they all welcomed Dean.
They keep calling people, but I got lost in my own thought...What house would I want to be? I thought to myself as I took a look at all the tables. Let's see, what house to I fit in most with...I glanced over to the Hufflepuff table...probably not Hufflepuff, I am not with that whole "be nice to everyone" thing, if someone deserves it, they will feel my rath-
I was brought out of my train of thought when I heared a familiar name.
"Ron Weasley"
Ron let out a gulp as he slowly waked up to the hat, his face redder than usual. Right as the hat was placed on his head the hat proclaimed "ahh another Weasley...I know exactly what to do with you...
GRYFFINDOR!
I swear I saw 20 red heads stand up and start screaming and whistling, though only one caught my eye...Fred, I sighed...well that would be a perk of being in Gryffindo- "NO" I said to myself, I am not gonna base what house I want off some silly boy who is to old for me anyway...so what coulor would look best on me
I regained my focus and heard the professor say "Draco...Malfoy?" Smug little platinum boy did not look so smug for once, he looked like his heart had dropped to his stomach, if he even had one. That boy was a Slytherin, I felt it. As soon as the hat was near his head it yelled out
SLYTHERIN
"Oh my gosh, I can't believe it" I said sarcastically in a bored tone.
His nervous look returned to its usual smirk as soon as he heard the hat yell out Slytherin, the Slytherin table cheered, and all the other tables booed.
My heat sank and then stopped as I heard
"Lynn Lynch" I froze, Luna nudged me, so I snapped back to reality and walked up to the hat, They had me take a seat on the stool, and with that the hat was placed on my head.
"Ahhhh a tough one...I see a need to prove yourself" The hat said. Rude, I do not need to prove myself to anyone, I thought to myself.
"Alright then" the hat said in response to my thought. Wait can this thing...read my thoughts? I thought to myself
"I see...mhmm I see very ambitious, Slytherin perhaps" said the hat
"Oh god no" I mumbled
"Alright not Slytherin then...I see... very clever...witty... Hmm" the hat grumbled
"Make it... RAVENCLAW" the hat proclaimed
The Ravenclaw table cheered, I sighed in relief knowing that I am not a Slytherin...but Ravenclaw...thats funny, I'm stupid.
I took a seat next to some other Ravenclaws in my year. A girl introduced herself to me "I am Cho, Cho Chang" She said.
"I am Lynn, Lynn Lynch" I replied. Cho was a second year, and I would have talked to her more but she was busy starring at a Hufflepuff boy.
Out of the corner off my eye I saw Fred looking at me, my eyes widened and I got nervous, he noticed and smiled, I smiled back.
I stopped looking at him when I heard the professor call out "Luna Lovegood" Please let her be a Ravenclaw, I mean she seems like a Hufflepuff to me but I hoped she was in my house.
"Ravenclaw" the hat proclaimed
"Thank goodness" I mumbled to myself. Luna came and sat next to me, we chatted for awhile, then all the first year students where let do there common rooms.
