Jin Ling was stunned.
In the span of a few minutes, Jin Chan had completely boarded the door with wooden boards. Jin Ling didn't dare to ask where the arrogant cultivator gained those materials, so he sealed his own mouth. He blinked, "Are you done?"
"No, I'm not." Jin Chan groaned.
He began fumbling with his commoner clothes, with the poor fabric shuffling around in his calloused hands. Finally, he pulled something out. It was a talisman to drive away spirits and ghosts. "Aha!" Jin Chan hollered, "with this, we can sleep perfectly fine tonight!"
Jin Ling sighed, "didn't you just hear my explanation from earlier? I said that there isn't a ghost-"
"But still," Jin Chan shrugged, "what if the elders figure out that we know the truth? I wouldn't want to be tortured to death."
Jin Ling's eyes twitched as he found himself succumbing to the other cultivator's logic. "Right..."
Jin Chan pulled over a straw mattress on the floor, collapsing on it after beads of sweat dropped down his forehead, "then goodnight."
The candle was diminished, leaving no traces of light.
Jin Ling fumbled around the bed, questions plundering his mind. What is exactly the goal of the elders? What does Town Cheng Du want?
But suddenly, a loud crash ignited in the building.
Jin Ling's eyes went wide, but he couldn't keep his consciousness as darkness penetrated his sight.

Sizhui clenched a fist by his side.
The mission began.
A-Ling... I'll find you for sure.

"Urgh..." Jin Ling's eyes fluttered open, but was shocked speechless when meeting complete darkness. He tried to move his limbs, but they were bind by tight rope. He struggled, but he still couldn't break free. Jin Ling scoffed sarcastically, "how exceeding."
"Yes, indeed, how exceeding." A familiar voice groaned.
Jin Ling had snarly jumped out of his skin until he realized that it was the sound of one of the three elders.
"Shi... Yi!" He blurted.
"Yes, that's me." Shi Yi nodded.
Jin Ling did not recognize his surroundings. In fact, he had no idea where he was.
"You're in the secret underground chamber." Shi Yi stated.
Jin Ling was perplexed. "What?"
Shi Yi smiled, "you're trapped."
Jin Ling nodded, "I can see that."
Shi Yi nodded back, "you'll get eaten."
Jin Ling nodded again, "I know that. You guys are cannibals, aren't you guys?"
Shi Yi nodded for the second time, "good guess. You are correct."
