You got sisters, I got brothers

Elias pulled into the parking lot of a Coney Island, and we got out, making our way inside. We found a booth to sit down. I grabbed a menu and flipped through it.

"You're not like most girls I met or know," Elias mentioned.

"You've known me since I was four. You now realize this fact," I said, smiling.

"Smartass," Elias retorted.

"Some people have sisters to torment them. I had brothers."

Elias gave me a strange look.

"I meant Gabe, Nate, and Deacon. I don't consider you as a brother because that's weird to have a crush on your brother," I reasoned.

"This whole conversation is weird."

The server came and took our orders, then left.

"I don't understand something," Elias said as I looked at him. "How did you end up with someone like Bradley Wilson? The guy is a schmuck."

I sighed. I knew Bradley's name would rear its ugly head. "I didn't think any guy would date me."

"Why not?"

"Because I'm not the girl guys date." I shrugged.

Elias put his palms on the tabletop and interlocked his fingers. He leaned forward and looked into my eyes. "You're wrong on so many levels."

"How so?" I asked.

"You have so many qualities guys like, but it intimidates them."

"What?" I scrunched my nose, looking at Elias with confusion.

"Guys have insecurities like girls. We hide it better. We're afraid if we talk to a girl like you, we'll feel stupid."

"That's the problem is no one talks to someone to get to know them. They assume," I reasoned.

"True, but it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. My deafness made me insecure, and girls enforced it when they found out."

"Those girls were dumb. You're deaf, not incapable of taking care of yourself. Plus, you have a dirty mind," I mentioned.

"Yeah, I blame the Gray gene for that," Elias said, making me giggled.

I stopped when I thought about the name Gray. "I have a teacher with the last name Gray."

"That's my cousin Patton. His dad and my nana are siblings."

"How many family members do you have?" I questioned.

"Too many, and I don't know half of them. But I would like to take you to meet someone after breakfast," Elias mentioned.

"Sure, why not? It's not like I had a day of rest planned."

Elias chuckled. The server brought our breakfast, and I dug in. I cut off pieces of my Belgian waffle and shoved it into my mouth, tasting the syrup-soaked waffle. I love waffles, bacon, sausage, toast, and anything else breakfast related.

Elias ate his biscuits and gravy as I devoured my waffle.

"How do you manage to eat so much and stay the same weight? Where the hell do you put it?" Elias asked.

"It helps when I'm chasing after Deacon. He gives me a good cardio workout," I said nodding.

Elias chuckled. Yeah, I could eat a lot, which shocked people. One time I ordered a waffle, sausage, eggs, hash browns, toast, and juice. The server looked at me like I was nuts then asked me how I would eat all that food. I ate everything and shocked the server when she came to collect the plates. It's not my fault. I like my food.
