The light poured in from the slotted windows where I was sitting. It was dark and all I could hear was the whip of the fan above me. Suddenly there was the sound of pounding on my door, and I felt my heart clench in my chest. My chained arms sagged next to me, and I licked my dry lips. I waited for the person enter the cell. "Oh, so this is the feisty one?" a voice asked. "She doesn't look like much to me," they uttered again. I felt my head slump against the concrete wall and the person's footsteps came closer.

How did I get here? One word: Naruto.

Two Days Prior ~

"Shinta Hidiki, please come forth." I rose up from my seat and walked into the Hokage's office. It was small, but spacious, if that made sense. The floor was wooden, and seemed to be hundreds of years old by the way it squeaked when I stepped on it. I clasped my hands behind my back and bowed to Tsunade. "Good morning, Lady Tsunade," I spoke politely.

"Oh, a good morning to you too, Shinta," she replied with a smile. "How is your job going as Captain? Are all the men treating you with respect?" I grinned graciously as the Lady spoke her concerns toward my shyness with people. She knew that I wasn't a people person, and that becoming captain was a difficult transition, but it was doable. "They are respecting me, Lady," I laughed. "In fact, I think I scared a few when they saw a small woman like me flip a big man like Kiba Inuzuka." Lady T chortled jovially and smoked her pipe for a second. "That's good," she murmured. "Good." I waited for her to speak, until she set her pipe down and gazed at me seriously. "Shinta, I have another mission for you. It is not for you and the ANBU troops though. It is for you and two other chunin. They need more experience and I will hope they will not only get more of that, but so will you." The Hokage seemed to be very serious, as if this was a life or death or situation.

"There was rumor of the Akatsuki being in the Village of the Mist, and I want you to take them and teach them some ways to find and defeat an enemy. But beware...there was a rumor of Sasuke Uchiha being there." I furrowed my brows. Sasuke Uchiha was my baby cousin who I never really messed with much. Yes we were the last of the Uchiha clan, but he never spoke to me, and pretended I didn't exist. As if I had disappeared with the rest of my clan. Well I decide I didn't want to endanger any of my friends, (after being ambushed) and 'disappeared.' I changed my raven black hair to a turquoise color and claimed myself as Shinta Hidiki. "Last I had heard of Sasuke was that he went crazy and left for good with Orochimaru. Even after all his friends went through..." I trailed off sadly. I was one of the ANBU who had to help the people, and couldn't go after the others. Though, I wished I could've. Then maybe Sasuke wouldn't be gone. Maybe he shouldn't have entered the chunin exams either. I still blamed myself about all of it. "Yes. We had no idea of his whereabouts until there was rumor of one of the Akatsuki and Sasuke fighting," Tsunade muttered. "Tomorrow you and the two chunin will meet at the front gate. Please pack everything you will need for a few days, and money. You are dismissed." I bowed to Lady T and left promptly.

~Next Day~

"I am prepared to leave," I told Lady Tsunade. She blew smoke from her aperture mouth and then gazed at me sadly. "Be careful," she susurrated. "Yes ma'am. I will return with glory." I bowed respectfully and left immediately. I grabbed my bags that were outside her door and walked to the front gate, hearing the sounds of teenagers arising from the surrounding area. "....NARUTO!" I winced at the sounds of pain, and peaked around the gate. There was two chunin, one girl and one boy. The boy was taller than me, with spikey blonde hair that stuck up in all directions. He had deeply tanned skin like he spent a lot of time out in the sun, and his eyes stuck out like a candle in a coal mine. They were deep blue orbs framed by short lashes and three whiskers on the side of his face. He had his ninja headband over his forehead, and he sported an orange jumpsuit that most likely only he could rock. I liked his style: bold and different. The other girl seemed to be intimidating and almost violent.
